The usual fanboys are embarassing themselves as usual. Put VERY simply. FABS are an EXTREMELY expensive business. Your talking $3 Billion+ investment. Makes no sense to Sony with it not being a core business on the very high end chip side of things and hence because of that a big loss maker for them. Infact I think the only company in the world who is going alone without alliances is Intel.
Just to point out other than the games division the other divisions of Sony are doing well. $600m profit last quarter.
