Alternative: SE will get more profit when supporting MS for their system... why? MS got LOTS of money and (i think) the advertisement of the 3rd-party games release on 360 is paid by MS MS have the capability to advertise SE's games more thoroughly around the world and thru Live and internet free of charge... but when SE support PS3 ONLY, they will be the one who paid for the advertisements of their games... |
Ther eason why I didn't include Wii, DS, and PSP was because the HD games SE is making won't go on there, or at least in their original forms.
And would you say that MS's marketing has helped SE as they believed it would? PS3 also can advertise through the PSN, free of charge.
I don't understand how much they expected advertising to cost, when they're cutting (a safe assumption) 50% of the current JRPG fanbase and their income. And so far that advertising isn't appealing to the Halo/GeoW crowd.
If they have supported the 360 unconditionally as a mistake, then I hope they learn their lesson... it's not helping them at all businesswise, they're losing half of their core base, they're not appealing to Westerners who don't like JRPGs, and only losing money.
They're also losing their safest source of sales, which is Japan. I really don't understand. I'm not saying: "lulz SE got this because it betrayed Sony!!!", but I'm saying that they're losing money because they're taking the wrong approach to appealing to Westerners. Using a western engine (UE3), and western console, does not appeal to gamers.
What appeals to them are the actual games themselves. They should be thinking if they should go after WRPG fans, or if they should appeal to more action fans. What elements of the JRPG genre to change, and to what extent.
