Streets of Rage 3 had a boxing kangaroo in it. I believe Streets of Rage 2 (no kangaroo) is superior.
By the way, the answer to this discussion is... Virtua Fighter. It is accessible and deep. There, chew on that for awhile!

Tekken wins in all of these categories, including sales. 
I just find SF distractingly ugly, and for that reason alone I was never able to get into it (SF4 is decent in small doses, though. Really the first SF game I have been able to at least tolerate). I'm not a huge fan of fighters in general, but 2-D fighters are especially bland to me.
