Forums - Microsoft - Would you prefer your Xbox360 to have Blu-ray?

As for the topic.

For free, why not. But the vast majority of people in the Western world feel the movie playback benefits of Blu-Ray are not yet worth the premium you pay for them.

As there are no proven tangible gaming benefits to Blu-Ray and there is zero chance someone will offer it to me for free...

No.

i don't have a need for it on the 360, so i would have to say i like it the way it is.

Yep, i'm a girl

No, I don't want to pay for extra features that I won't ever use.

i would have preferred the xbox360 to have had a blu-ray player and maybe some additional accesories included since the price isn't so far from the ps3's. maybe had they had one maybe the manufacturer quality would have been better and it would have probably 10m more sells than it does now. HD died so why couldn't the forcasters seen this beforehand. im not knocking 360 since i own one, but scratching games is not a defect i would want in a console. sigh. maybe their next console will be a better and awesomer. stilll 360 is the shiznit. ps3 though is awesome as hell. beats owning a wii. haha.

I'll chime in with the majority. Sure- if it was free. But that wouldn't be the fact. So no I'm happy without it.

No, because it can't be done without increasing cost. I have nthing against brd, but the increased cost are not justifiable.

Who wouldn't want the X360 to have a blu-ray player?

Of course, the issue has to do with cost. The Playstation 3 is extreme expensive due to Blu-Ray among other things. There's no way Microsoft would be in the good position it's in (profitable machine, and cheapest on the market) with a more expensive drive. Economics drove the decisions Microsoft made. I am 100% fine with the 360 having DVD, since it made for a cheaper system to buy, which in turn gave MS more firepower to secure exclusives and games that may not have been developed for the 360.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

nextbox maybe.

But how long will blu ray be around for?

Who knows which movie medium/technology will come along next.

Yes, because switching discs CONSTANTLY ruined SO4 for me.

We'll miss you George.
