Did anyone at any point in time actually post any benchmarks? There are too many easy to overlook variables.

In fact I remain unconvinced that with either system the optical drive would be a bottleneck in any sanely programmed game.

Sssstt... this thread is about MikeB vs the Amiga Guys... grab some popcorn an be quiet...

WTF happend here? This must be one of the strangest thread ever on this site... it's even discussed on that Amiga forum: http://moobunny.dreamhosters.com/cgi/mbthread.pl/amiga/expand/162125

From that thread:

No matter what forum he goes to, it's only a matter of time before they lose patience with his constant lying, and the signature twisting and turning go goes through when caught lying.

Unfortunately I agree fully with this assessment. Many times have I spent discussing/explaining certain technical things to him only to see him spouting the same inaccurate information a few days later as if nothing ever happened.

Maybe I should just ask you for YOUR definition of "trolling".  It seems many people have many different definitions.

Its bad form to call someone a troll unless one honestly feels they meet a generally accepted definition of the word:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

Obviously many people over several continents and cultures, over various online coummuties, over years, agree about Mike.  That said, you don't need to of course.

According to the defintion, you have to prove that he has "the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion."

This is HIS thread.  You guys are the ones that are disrupting the "normal on-topic discussion" in this thread with your attacks on his character.

By definition, you and others have identified yourselves as "Internet trolls".  Mike B just seems to be trying to educate you through factual information.  THAT'S what seems to have some of you guys in an uproar.  This is like HD DVD tactics all over again.  They get you so emotionally attached to a belief that you fight off facts like your lives depend on it.

The point is...NO one should try to attack a person's character as a method of discrediting information brought forth.  To do so is to be cult-ish in nature.  If you can't prove the information backed up with multiple credible sources to be false with MORE credible sources, just leave it alone or accept it.  THIS is the nature of science.

Troll topic? Really we all knew that its 6.8 and guess what games are being put on PS3 blue ray, a 50 gig disc with 6.8 being used.

Apparently, you all DIDN't know the size limit is 6.8GB, if you look at the first and second pages. BTW, NO company would use a 50GB BD for 6.8GB of data. Also, you are forgeting that some devs use that extra space on multiplatform games for 7.1 LPCM audio like Fallout 3.

I knew that xbox 360 games are 6.8 gigs.

I don't have to prove anything.  I agreed with what someone else said here in regard to Mike's actions in this very thread.  And provided links of similar behavior and assessments in many other threads, both on this site and others.  I already said specifically I was not questioning his technical assessment in this thread.  And it was Mike who started attacking the character of indviduals and their supposed motiviations, trashing multiple people not even on this board.  My criticisms revolve only around his actions (with specific linked examples) and only continued in response to his additional posts on the subject.  I indicated a couple of times not wanting to pollute the thread further.  But MikeB did not want that out, instead he wanted to further dispute, via smokescreen and diversion.  Well for it he got more specific counter examples of actions on his part.  My apologies though to those who wanted to debate the original point of the thread.

I find it rather hilarious AS3 you call others out for being trolls when you first post in the thread completely ignores the previous pages worth of evidence that prove the 360 drive does indeed read dual layer at 12x. You saying it's 8x isn't proof and posting the same link that thankfully MikeB hasn't recycled doesn't prove it either. You missed the point completely of those who disagreed with MikeB, they provided more factual evidence than he did of why he was wrong.

It's not off topic to refute a claim like the speed which MikeB raised first but when the claim was proved false there was no concession made by him hence other people posting why he wouldn't back down. If MikeB was offended by any post he has the right to report any post and leave it in the hands of the mods to decide if it was unreasonable.

The funny thing you nor those MOS guys ever provide any evidence of the horrible things I would have done. I alledgedly would have posted or done such horrible things over at AmigaWorld or OSNews, yet these websites provide open contents and I can be easily quoted. IMO that's good food for thought.

Some things I won't quote from Moobunny, but believe me, there has been weird shit going on over there. Super weird extremist stuff, if I would say some people wished me dead over there (or various CEOs, developers and company managers) that would be an understatement, if you would actually believe some of the words being said over there in the past.

I will ask a mod to lock this thread, as this has IMO gone way too far off topic already. Ausfalcon I will try to ignore you for the future, whoever you may be.

What does any of this crazy stuff/stories from your past have to do with the realties of how you have been called out for your actions here by experienced guys on this board?  That you were called out and banned at Neogaf, that you got a temp ban at Amigaworld, how you have gotten called out by mods there recently in game console posts there etc?  Put this one Moo Bunny board aside then.

And I didn't say you did "horrible things".  You are an internet troll IMHO and in the opinions of others (and I provided links to where you were doing it and where you got the reactions that of course come from such behavior).  Lets not over-dramatize here.  Still, it doesn't mean you shouldn't work to change.  But thats up to you.

No need to put Moobunny aside. It is an unmoderated forum, so you get some idiots acting like idiots but they get ignored by the regulars. MikeB hates that site because it exposes the truth, cockroaches don't like the light.

http://moobunny.dreamhosters.com/cgi/mbmessage.pl/amiga/121570.shtml

The last line in that post tells volumes of MikeB's character.

"4) Among them, Mike Bouma is still the slimiest, most offensive, most hypocritical fucktard anyone could ever hope to know. He moderated away any attempts to explain the bug that caused ANR to fail on OS4 and how to fix it, and banned the poster for his trouble. Just so you know. "

If you want to throw out Moobunny, no problem. In this very thread MikeB professes his close ties with a company, Amiga Inc. Amiga Inc since 2000 has been known for nothing but fraud and scams. If you want a view of Amiga Inc from a source having nothing to do with the Amiga community or even computer enthusiasts, look below.

"
Since I have never heard of this company before, I did some research about them using google. The results are alarming.
I wish the city officials had done the same before coming to a multi-million dollar agreement with Amiga!

They seem to have a history of failures and scamming. The only real achievement they made during the past 5 years was many fluffed up announcements that never became reality.
Their only current products are a few mobile games which they licensed from other developers. And this company calls themself the "the world's premier provider of multi-media enabling technologies". This is complete and utter fluff, but our city officials seem to have been fooled by it.

There are employees who are haven't been paid and who are still waiting for their wages despite court orders! Then they scammed hundreds of customers with vouchers for something they never delivered. By doing this, the company stayed alive and kept themself from going bancrupt 3 years ago. This information is everywhere on the internet. It is public information."
