x2 Blu-ray a Joke, lol. Yet  x2 Blu-ray  in PS3 Reads slightly faster than the 360's x8 DL DVD drive. Also cos Blu-ray isn't required to spin fast in  order to have fast read speeds, so noise levels are very quiet, when compared to the noisey as hell 360 drive.

The DVD drive in the Xbox 360 is 12x foe ALL DVD media...

12x

12x

12x

12x

12x 12....bloody X!!!!!

Your wrong, It's x12  for SL DVD 4.7Gb Games any game using more is on a 8x DL DVD9. And BTW around 90% of 360 games come on DL DVD9 discs now which means they are read at x8 not x12. So Your wrong and I'm right.

 2x Blu-ray Drive (72Mbps(9MB/s))
Single Layer (2x CLV) - Constant Linear Velocity (Same speed across entire disk)
Double Layer - Couldn't find any data but no games have been released on a double layer yet.

Entire Blu-ray Disk is read at 9MB/s.

12x DVD-Rom Drive SL (9.25MB/S-15.85MB/s(AVG ~8x(10.57MB/s) DL (4.36MB/s-10.57MB/s(AVG ~6x(7.93MB/s)
SL(DVD-5) 12x Max (5-12x Full CAV) - Constant Angular Velocity (Speed Varies from edge to edge)
DL(DVD-9) 8x Max (3.3-8x Full CAV) - Constant Angular Velocity (Speed Varies from edge to edge)

Where have you got those lies from?

Oh yes....here

http://forums.maxconsole.net/archive/index.php/t-65317.html

So you and MikeB have just copied some other idiots bs post and called it your own source? (wrong too)

Try the hitachi manual you fool, x12 Single layer DVD, x8 dual layer DVD9. Why can't Xbots read.

The PS3 reads at 9 MB/s. The 360 reads at more than 11 MB/s, as anyone can see by installing a game to the hard drive.

NBA Live 09: 6.3 GB in 9m7s (or 11.8 MB/s)
The Force Unleashed: 6.6 GB in 9m47s (or 11.51 MB/s)

These are double-layer games.

Pulled them numbers out your arse, try reading 360 manual, it clearly states x8 for Dual Layer DVD9 not x12.

Btw we never mentioned intalling to 360 hard drive, we were comparing x8 DL DVD9 to x2 Blu-ray.

Tell that to the gamespot guys who measured the installation times.

Your a typical dumb xbot, who can't take the truth, would rather make shit up. Even after been given the source, which is the Hitachi DVD manual(which is one of the suppliers of 360 DVD drives), there spec sheet won't lie.

I couldn't find any mention of the drive's speed in the manual, but I did manage to find the following:

http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/manuals/xbox360specs.htm

"12x dual-layer DVD-ROM"

Now what do we do!? There's conflicting sources!

Where's that source? The only link I've seen is broken (404 error). I mean this one:

http://www.hitachi.us/supportingdocs/support/manuals/gd7500,0.pdf#search=%22Hitachi%2012x%20dvd%20read%20speed%22

Also:

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/Xbox_360_DVD_Drive_Comparison.htm

I don't see any mention of that GD 7500 drive there.

well games most dont need blu-ray discs and i thought the most a double-layered disc has 9.2gigs max, how come it only maxs out 6.8gigs?

Wow, so MikeB is the same on all the forums he visits. Go figure. Quite sad really.

I still think CD's are the way to go.
You can get 56x out of them!!!
much faster than the paltry 2x on a BR!!!
C'mon Sony! wake up and smell the Future! the Future is 50 layer CD!!!

/sarcasm
