Outside of the obvious answer of Oprah, I'm going to say Carson.

what has oprah done?

Beats me. Everyone is saying that though, and I don't want to be an outsider, so I'm going along.

loool did people forget the thriller mania of the 80s?

John Lennon was as influential as a celebrity could ever hope to be.

Past 30 years buddyMaths. Lennon's heyday was in the 60's.

Madonna

Oprah

John Lennon died in 1980. His inluence on mainstream society and grassroots was huge during his late years with Yoko Ono.

Well yeah but 30 years ago was April 1979, giving him about 1 1/2 years of influence before he got killed. Don't you think someone that was around a bit more in the last 30 years should get the recognition?

I think the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should get some credit here.

It is my sincere opinion that he single handedly affected more people during those "1 1/2 years" than any other celeb ever managed to do.

Really? I've never even really heard of him. I asked my daughter too and she doesn't know who he is either. She's of the opinion that Dora is the most influential person of the last 30 years.

Yes, popular singers were the most influential people of the last 3 decades. That makes perfect sense. I could understand MJ, but John Lennon hasn't been influential for the last 30 years. I'm assuming that's a picture of Freddie Mercury, and while he has had some influence, it's not that much compared to a lot of other people.

I'd put another vote towards Michael Jordan. The dude pretty much made basketball what it is today. Plus, Space Jam was an awesome movie.

meganman2 your back!I thought you were perma banned lol.

OT:Michael Jackson.
