Yes and I have saved many insects too. I rescued a bird that got his head stuck in my parents old feeder. I broke the feeder but still couldn't get him out because he had his head jammed in a metal circle part which was the hole for them to stick their beak in. The feeder was low and he was trying to reach the very bottom. Anyways, I eventually took him to the local fire department and they were able to use their bigger bolt cutters cut the metal in half since my bolt cutters weren't strong enough. So I released him and he kind of flapped around holding his head all awkward and he was probably pretty stressed out. I heard stress can kill birds sometimes. I picked him up and plopped him on a tree branch and left to get ready for work. I went back during my lunch break and he wasn't there and no sign so I assume he was able to fly off.
