Forums - Gaming - Street Fighter 4 players out there (Specifically Guile players)?

I'm planning on buying the game.. but I've heard some distressing news about it.

See, I'm an old school Guile player. Now I've heard and watched some videos of Guile sucking ass in Street Fighter 4, getting beat by almost everyone. I thought that hey, the guys playing probably just suck. There are complaints all over some Capcom forums, but still I thought people just don't know how to use him properly.

Then I rented the game and I realized that Guile has been nerfed severely. At first I thought hey, maybe I suck. Then I watched Guilley and Fuson getting their asses handed to them on youtube.

I can't do the same things that I used to do with him anymore. Here are a few things that seem wrong about Guile nowadays:

1.) the air breaker is non existent now. sigh.

2.) the flash kick gets countered by every single thing in the universe.

3.) the flash kick's recovery time exceeds any move in the game.

4.) the legendary combos aren't doable anymore.

5.) he's much slower now and his attacks are weaker.

6.) range has been shortened.

Being a Guile player, something like this is preventing me from purchasing the game. Anyone with any insights on the matter (like if Capcom is going to patch this soon)?

I wish I put more time in to the game so I could answer this.

I am a charge player for the most part but I couldn't go back to using Guile in a new SF game after I got used to Remi in SF3...Guile tactics seemed so...last gen :P
But I was beating my share of people with Guile before I gave up on SF4 a month ago.

guile is sick only if you know how to use him.

a guy can do all those combos coz they're setups. anyone can do whatever they want against a dummy.

but against other characters of equal skill? guile can't do a damn thing. guilley is one of the best guile players out there, but he gets annihilated in the competitions (watch the competition vids there).

see, guile is the traditional type of guy who always will have only 2 special moves. that's what endears him to fans. he's a fighter who doesn't rely on a lot of fancy moves, and instead relies on true fighting skill.

but now, that fighting skill he used to have (he really had the best combos in the business) is gone. he doesn't have any advantages anymore. so his lack of special moves in comparison to others now make him unable to stay on the level with anyone.
