Forums - Gaming - Are we getting screwed by DLCs

5-10$ for map packs, a little bit more play time

1$ for new clothes, new charactors, new cars, new colors

these things used to be unlockable but now you have to buy them instead of bying a 60$ game now you have to pay 70-80$ to have the full game.Sure you are not forced to buy them but when you play online and 60% of the games in the lobby need the most recent map pack it's a bit frustrating.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I agree some of th dlc are ripoffs.

of course! you think devs make DLC's to make you happy and have jolly good time? no! its for them to make money. thats exactly why they are so overpriced.

Indeed, I am of the personal opinion that DLC is what should have been in the disc but is just removed so the devs can make more money on top of your $60. Putting locks on content already on the disc to only be unlocked by a 100kb key which costs £3 is daylight robbery. -_-

I actually talked about this on my podcast a couple weeks ago. My co host and I were getting fed up with publishers releasing buggy games and then just releasing a patch a week later to fix it. You would have never seen that in the previous gens, but pc gamers have been used to this for years so I guess console people can now share in the fun.

As for DLC, im the type of person who will beat something and prolly never play it again (perhaps years later if I get nostalgic) so the aspect of continuing a game once its completed is redundant to me, so personally DLC being present doesnt effect me at all, but could be a good thing for people who really, really love a certain game.

meh considering I buy all my games for 10-30 dollars, I guess it's fair for the companies to want to sponge another 1-15 dollars from me.

Yes =/
Examples that are truly annoying:
Mega Man 9
TF2 360 (PC version has the stuff free, 360 has as DLC and is updated A LOT less)

"After you win, son, I feel like going for a ride on your bike, haha." ~Doc Louis (Punch Out Wii)

I think that the biggest problem I've had with DLC was with The Force Unleashed. $10 for a mission that should have been included in the first place, and some costumes that I really couldn't care less about since it takes like 5 minutes to change one, and then you have to start back at the last checkpoint. (That said, I do like TFU a lot. ^_^)

first thing that comes to mind re5 versus really should have been included

what about free map packs. or game add-ons and full games. i would have loved this with my n64.
