Forums - General - Question for Naruto fans.

So I started watching Naruto on Hulu (Japanese with subtitles FTW), and I read that only through episode 135 is canon, and then after than the next 80 episodes are filler, and the shippuden is canon again. So should I bother watching the 80 filler episodes are just skips straight to Shippuden once I get through episode 135? Will I be missing anything good? Will there be anything I will want to know in those filler episodes? Or is it just junk?

I'm around episode 100 now. Really enjoying the series, it's much better than I expected it to be.

Oh yeah, no spoilers please.

I watched the fillers. They are not really worth it, IMO. Make sure to watch the last episode of filler though, as half of it is from the original manga.

Then again, I read the manga now, so I don't have to put up with fillers anymore >.>

You can skip the filler's but some of them are good. In the fillers you see the other ninja's more instead of just Sakrua, Naruto and Kakashi. I liked the fillers but there not needed to understand the story line of Shipuden since they fill you in on it in the first 2 episodes...

Former something....

Ok, so watch the very last episode of Naruto before beginning shippuden. Good to know.

So if it's possible could somebody tell me what is so lame about those 80 episodes without giving too much away about them (in case I get bored and watch them later)

No progression at all, lame stories, the fights are not cool , badly animated. I think that sums it up.

They all involve Naruto... a lot.

Good filler should flesh out the supporting cast and leave most of the heavy lifting to them.  But rather then do that they pair Naruto up with differet subcast teams... often leaving most of the heavy lifting to him.

Since he is the one that has to do all the heavy lifting fighting wise every fight ends up being the exact same thing... since... as filler they can't have him pull out any new kickass moves.

So, the stories are throwaways... the sidecharacter focus is minor, so it doesn't even flesh out the other characters too much... and all the fights are Narutos shadowclones getting murdered forever until he pulls of his supermove to win.  Or fails a few times to land his supermove... makes a stupid speach and then lands his supermove.

^^^ They are simply comedic for the most part... So yeah, go ahead and watch them if you're REALLY bored.

Thanks, I kind of figured it would be something along that line. I figured Naruto's filler would be like DBZ at it's worst. Alot of trash talk, little animation, and repetitive "fights". I will most likey avoid and go straight to shippuden.

However, they are much better than Bleach fillers.

No don't watch them even if you are bored, there are enough other anime that are awesome.
