Right. I give up.
For me in the UK, the PS3 and 360 are under 1 year manufacturer's warranty so Sony and Microsoft will replace the console for faultiness during that time. UK is not under the EU directive 1999 (as far as I have read), and the conditions are too strict to go on the legal warranty of 2 years, but if they do apply, then they apply for both the PS3 and 360. Most UK consumers buy from the huge chains like GAME, Amazon, HMV and not a specialised electronics dealer.
That means the only other extended warranty is given by Microsoft for 3 years for the other known issues. Or if you buy an extended warranty from the retailer (which is sold widely here).
I give up also because the initial OP message (as always) was meant to say Microsoft sucks at whatever they do, and should really be titled - "Why do I attack Microsoft so much?" under the pretense that its meant to be an education. Try that title for 'self-reflection'.
Also frankly I never had any issues with the 360 (its already beating the PS2 and Gamecube in that respect) and there are way too many games now and in the future to worry about these things.
