More Zune HD Details Emerge

After the leaked pictures of the Zune HD appeared on Saturday, more unconfirmed technical specifications of the device have now emerged. Microsoft's new portable media player is set to go neck-to-neck with Apple's iPod Touch, as the specifications of the Zune HD make it a viable contender.

The Zune HD is set to feature a multitouch (capacitive) OLED screen in a 16:9 aspect ratio and will have a TV out port on the side (apparently HDMI). Coming in 16 and 32GB versions, the device will also support wireless syncing to your computer. Some even speculate the PMP will support 3D Xbox games, if the Zune HD will actually use Nvidia's Tegra chipset.

The new details also mention a Web browser on the Zune HD, which in turn supports multitouch. No word on what kind of browser this will be, but let's hope it won't be anything similar to Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile. As previously reported, the Zune HD is set to launch this fall (probably September) with new details of international availability in Canada, the U.K, and France.

What is Microsoft cooking?

The tech blogosphere is also talking today about Zune-themed mobile phones. AdWeek reports that Microsoft is now taking bids for an ad campaign for a Zune mobile application dubbed Pink.

While some speculate that the Zune HD is likely to run on the long-overdue Windows Mobile 6.5 (expected in Q4, same as the Zune HD), it's more likely that WM phones would just share some services and feature with the new Zune.

If done right, kinda like the 360's aggressiveness, I think this new device could actually put a dent in iPod's domination.

It may not take the lead, however, unlike the first zune, this could actually cause quite a stir.

Have to see some reviews of the browser and touch interface though. iTouch and iPhone's is remarkably good.

there was a thread about this few hours ago where everyone gave theirs "OMG...WOW...AMAZING!" commetns.

While this thing appears to be amazing, I want to see this thing have an accessory called..."the xbox 360 controller".

And the zune would plug in to this "xbox 360 controller" and would be able to connect to xbox live and play with your gamercard and play xbox live games you bought.

Kind of like this...but cooler

The news of a UK release was all I needed. If they want it to play games though, they need to put some proper buttons on it.

i wonder what the price tag will be? but it will be so cool to play Halo online on Wi-Fi in starbucks! but i don't buy the HDMI thing.

I'm not a fan boy of any thing, whatever wins i don't care. As long as i enjoy good games

UGH. Microsoft--think of your OWN DESIGN por favor. Heres to hoping its just concept art or a fan pic. Not that it looks bad at all, but I believe that APPLE MADE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS quite similar to it...

That aside, I want my dual joysticks.... I'f we get an Zunebox, I want to play my FPS games the way they were meant to be played.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Why do they insist on giving us only 32GB's!?
Both this, the iTouch, and Sony's Walkman X all max out at that point, but it isn't nearly enough given the content you can store. I'd buy this in an instant if they went notably higher.
