I now see you're tallying the favorites. It might be even more interesting to break down those numbers with the number of people that also played that FF first and also to list the number of people that played it first but prefer another FF. For example say of the 7 people that say FFIX is their favorite it was also the first FF for 5 of them, but there's an addition 3 people that played IX first and prefer a different game. The listing would look like "FFIX - 7(5)/3"

And finally some general observations(slightly outdated) I noticed while counting up everything:
It seems from our small sample of VGC members that FFI had the most "firsts," but couldn't retain the "favorite" title for anyone. Many of these 12 consider either IV or VI their favorites.

II,III,V, and CC were each a member's first but none were favorites for anyone either.

IV had many favorites, but only one of these were also a first, giving it the award for most converts. Several other members that played this one first consider VI a favorite.

VI gets the award for pre-PS era favorite as well as second best in converts with 7 new favorites compared to 4 F&Fs. It also comes in second for retaining the most favorites with only one first considering another game the fave.

VII gets the award for overall favorite by a slim margin and has the highest percentage of firsts making up its favorites. However it lost nearly as many firsts to other games.

VIII also had a high ratio of firsts that were also faves. Many of the firsts that moved on went to X.

IX gets the award for retaining every one of its firsts.

Of the three people that started with X or X-2, none consider that game their fave. However, X gathered 5 faves from other games.

Additionally X-2, XII, and T also gathered a single fave from other games.

Yes, Final Fantasy VIII. But Final Fantasy IX, the second one I played, comes in a really close 2nd place for me.

thanks for your trouble, i did not want to go through all that trouble today, need to wake up early and it's past bedtime for me. With a first glance, i thought FFIX had 6 favorite votes... but maybe i'm wrong.

No problem, I think you had a great idea for a thread and turned it into a neat idea for some analysis and all I did was expand that. I updated my last post with Gnosis's and an update from Baddman for his favorite.

Also I went back and counted voted for IX and only got 5, but there are several(6) member's whose favorite are a bit unclear and I could've possibly given it to a different game then you. I generally went with the first game listed.

My first FF, FFX, just barely loses out to FFVII.

FFX is still my favorite because its the only game I played in the series.

My first was 4.
My favorite is 6.
