Forums - General - Are you afraid of Roller Coasters?

I was having a discussion with my friends the other day, and I learned that most of them don't like roller coasters! Ever since I was 7, roller coasters have been a passion of mine. I still to this day don't understand why people are afraid of roller coasters. Can someone explain to me why people won't ride these thrill rides scientificly?

ive only ever been on one, once in my entire life so far, and i wasnt afraid, i just dont go to theme parks or places with rollercoasters.

I don't like them... I can ride them at times, but only if I get tricked or trick myself. I HATE the sensation of falling. Whats worse is the build up to the fall... You see it coming, but once you are strapped in you can't get off.

Last time I went on a roller coaster I fell and died. This is my third life.

My parents didn't let me ride one 'til I was 13. They were afraid I'd freak out during the ride. I love them though I do have some genuine scared moments.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I'm not afraid of the sensation of riding a rollercoaster. I'm afraid of the possibility of a rollercoaster's structural failure.

Nice... I will have to incorporate this argument next time someone tries to drag me on a horrid free falling thing... "What if it doesn't stop...?"

Theme parks are actually very safe and are probably less dangerous then driving.

Love them!!! I have been to a few great parks (Kings Island and Cedar Point in Ohio) a few times when I lived in Ohio. I just got back from Six Flags in San Antonio. The Superman ride was pretty tight and I rode all the other major rides there. I just hate waiting in the damn lines!!! A few times while I was waiting in line with cousin I felt like the South Park episode where one of the rides was that you wait in a line think it was called the line ride).  I need one of those don't wait in line passes!!!

Hell yeah.Im afraid of them and of the dinosaur disney attraction,I still dont have the balls to get in that ride.Though the reason might be because since Ive been small my mother kept making me fear this kind of things.(my mom is paranoid and have tons of issues.)So now that Im older I cant get in this things.

Anyway once I was at six flags I rode in the golliat ride. But during the ride I felt this strange sensation on my chest. And the dumb asses on the back row keep yelling "this is so awesome" WE WANT MORE.Like savages but I was not scare I just have childhood traumas.
