I did in fact read that whole post, and for the record I love FLCL. It's one of my all-time favorites. But here's some stuff you may want to watch:

-If you want to see something smart, witty, and completely different from everything you've watched so far, check out Spice and Wolf. Just don't expect action.

-If you want something that's pretty nuts and gorey, but still manages to be funny and artistic, the very unique pulp-fiction style Baccano is a great one to check out.

-If you are secure in your sexuality and don't mind a good romance, Toradora is an excellent romantic comedy.

-If you are looking for something similar to Cowboy Bebop, there are 2 other space western anime out there: Outlaw Star and Trigun. Both are very good.

-If you want to see a serious mecha drama without all the emo crap, but still a unique approach to the genre, check out RahXephon.

I love your taste in anime.  I'd just add Eureka 7 to RahXephon (Both made by Bones).  A lot of KEY stuff is good for romantic comedy, but their endings piss me off.

@Rubang: If you're into anime movies right now, check out 5 Centimeters Per Second, Paprika, and The Girl who Lept Through Time.  I assume you've seen all the Studio Ghibli stuff.

E7 is good, but I was trying to give him a variety of options of different genres and styles of anime. I consider RahXephon a bit better in the mecha genre (if only cause Renton is really annoying for the first 10 episodes), so I gave him that instead.

And yeah, I like KEY, but if he's gonna watch a romance I'd rather it be Toradora than Clannad, even if Clannad is great too. Toradora is simply better paced than any other romantic comedy. You never have an episode where the status quo is maintained. You have character development constantly.

Oh, I've got one for you, Rubang.

Try Vision of Escaflowne.

But skip the first episode. Just start with episode 2. It recaps everything that happens in episode 1 anyway, and you really don't want to waste twenty-two minutes on episode one.

No matter how awesome Taiga is, the better romance story is in Clannad, Nagisa FTW....Ushio!!!

Yeah, I definitely agree that from a pure mecha perspective RahXephon is a bit better.  I like the characters of Eureka 7 a bit more, but that's really personal opinion, I guess.

ToraDora's my favorite romantic comedy, so I'm with you.  It's got some of the best individual scenes I've ever watched, and the comedy is amazing.  I was just trying to give a few more if he got done with those.  If he's like me, he'll spend all day watching some of those series in one sitting and get massively behind on work, but wanting more afterwards.

@Skeezer: I find Nagisa much more attractive, but I like Taiga's character a lot more.

CLANNAD SPOILERS:

The ending kills it for me.  There was such much emotion in those last few episodes; when Tomoya is finally connecting with Ushio and being forced to confront Nagisa's memory, that was incredible.  When Ushio died, my heart was about to break.  And then, out of no where magic saves the days?  That's just stupid to me.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood so far I´m liking it.Though I definitely love the last first ending rather than this ending.

I don't think Baccano is that gory. Rather bloody at times though. Opening song is awesome <3 Too bad it's only 14 eps...

I need to check out RahXephon eventually too.

I'd recommend these to him too:

Hitman Reborn - My top anime, if you have any like for shonen anime at all (which you should since you like Naruto) and good story, characters, music, and so on this is perfect. Can be funny as well. First 20 eps not much action, really just fun eps but then it gets actiony. It's one of those long animes (I'm waiting for ep 129) but there's no filler like at all.

Soul Eater - Really good action and it's hilarious in the beginning episodes. After that it gets serious. Good characters, music, and story. Plus the art is unparalleled when it comes to anime IMO.

Bleach - Well, you like Naruto...good bloody action and funny.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - This seems like one of those cute girl animes...but it's not. It's a really fun watch. Story's more complicated than you'd think (just read up on it on Wikipedia if you want.) There's 2 fight scenes...one was pretty bloody.

Code Geass - all round great show. First 7 eps are slow but it picks up A LOT. Great characters (Lelouch is like the greatest main character ever), good music, awesome mecha fights, really great story.

Death Note - awesome as well. People think it tends to become kinda meh after ep 25 (for a certain reason) but it has a really good story and good music. Light's a bitch though, he's the most evil character I've ever seen.

Gurren Lagann - You'll never get bored of this. There's fights in every episode. It's a mecha show and it has the greatest mechs in anime history. They're so original and the fights are just crazy and awesome. Good story and characters too, and good art.

Though the last episode sucked hard. The worst ending that I have seen in anime

I really know what you mean, if you really hated the ending that much you could consider ep 21 the end. But it's true to the visual novel, in which its the same exact ending. BTW there was magic in the anime before the last ep too......still a 10/10

^_^

it definitely seems DBK is definitely cutting down a ton of useless stuff. First ep was like the first ep and a half of DBZ
