Forums - Sony - Should I get a PSP?

I don't care what your assuming off, saying Sony will release a console which is DD only does not make a lick of sense. Sit back from your PC and just think......Sony releasing a hardware revision which will mean people can only purchase the games from online therefore cutting out stores........no.

The PSP 4000 is set to have many more features such as touchscreen, the more feature rich hardware would obviously cost more than the 3000 so going DD only would mean that one could find themselves in a situation that they want to upgrade however want to purchase their games from stores. Sony would be cutting out a chunk of those people........sorry Star and Xxain but you two just need a reality check. :/

As for software for the new model, I'm sure Sony will allow retailerers like Gamestop to sell games on mem sticks, so even that aspect would be covered.

DD download only my ass then

No UMD? How would it play older PSP games then?

Sony will put them on PSN. As for UMD games, you can always choose to buy PSP-3000. Looking at some already announced PSP-3000 bundles for that time-frame, Sony plans to sell both models simultaneously.

While sabotaging the 4000 by giving people the option of getting the more expensive and feature rich model if they are willing to go DD only............hurf durf

How are they cutting off stores if they allow the likes of Gamestop to sell games on mem stick?

As for reality check, I'll make sure to bump this thread after the E3.

First your saying the console will be DD only and then you say stores will be able to sell the games on memory sticks, make your mind up.

how bout this, PSP2/4000 will more DD focused, but it still doesn't change the fact 3000 will be here to satisfy the hard copy needs

It's sad some people need arguing for argument's sake, when it's simple.

You want UMD - buy PSP-3000

You don't want UMD - download your games from PSN or stores

It'd take a while before ALL games are up on PSN. That would mean 4000 sales wouldn't pick up...at least for a while. Most people would pick the 3000 unless they absolutely must have the new capabilities.

You make it seem like people will all of sudden will start demanding every past game, the linup for PSP now is more than enough distraction to give time for past games to be put up.

Maybe, but it's a matter of choice.

Also, I suspect Sony would allow stores to set-up download stations, so you wouldn't have to download games from PSN only.
