Forums - Sony - Should I get a PSP?

I'm waiting for E3 because all these rumours flying around about a hardware revision for the PSP, a guy at GAF pretty much nodded it was happening and he has been right many times before.

No UMD = :S

Seems like games will be DD and also on memory sticks, will allow people with old PSP's to play the games as well as people who purchase the new model. That and Sony simpy release upcoming games as DD, UMD and memory sticks. Anyone saying DD only needs a slap across the face so they get back to reality, no way is Sony going to completely cut off store purchases and make anything DD only.

Why is everybody assuming the next PSP will be digital only? Based off rumors?

Have you looked at PSP video game sales? How many million sellers are there? No one will support a new PSP if it goes digital only. I purchase all of my PSP games new or used depending on the eBay price, but if you go by PSP sales to software ratio a majority of the people pirate their games. Going digital only would not only decrease their hardware sales but alienate those that actually purchase their games. Most people who purchase their games will want the ability to re-sell them for money or have an actual copy of a game rather then a digital download.

How would digital only (PSP-4000) model decrease PSP sales if Sony decide to sell it along with the old (PSP-3000) one?

Ok...., but thats not what im saying. You guys make seem like that if PSP2/4000 is digital only, that all support for previous models would cease. They can still sell to retailers, just throw it up on PSN too for the digital only series

obviously me and Star Scream are on the same page

WOW of all the people I never thought you would think of the PSP 4000 as being DD only, I would think common sense would rule that out but eh here you are many others are saying it will be DD only.

Terribly sorry if I read wrong, it's well known I do have moments of retardation.

where just assuming off rumors...and plus they brought it up

Yeah, it's pretty simple really - if you hate UMDs, you buy the new model. If you don't, you might as well purchase PSP-3000. It's a matter of choice.

^ exactly

As for software for the new model, I'm sure Sony will allow retailerers like Gamestop to sell games on mem sticks, so even that aspect would be covered.

^ its rumored that SONY would throw past PSP game on PSN
