Forums - General - With Free Food, Shelter, and Healthcare lets tax freetime

If you qualify for free food, shelter, and healthcare and do not work it is only fair to taxpayers who barely provide these things for themselves by working to make you work.

Governent should force you to pick up litter or clean sidewalks or public buildings if you want to continue to recieve benefits.

You go to jail otherwise.

How many hours a week should they require?

at least ten hours a week, but there are some things that will get you out of it.

youre forgetting that humans are greedy and allways want more than the basics, this alone drives us to work, i would suggest changing the benefits system to vouchers for food, clothing, etc, that way, if you want say a new tv, you have to get a job to get it

do what i suggest, have a voucher benefit system, the desire for a new laptop will drive people to seek work, also, at the moment we are in a reccession, so your idea will punish people for being made redundant, if it were as simple as all people on benefits being scroungers, then i would agree with you, but its not that simple.

You go to jail otherwise. yeah, that wont work at all, not to mention prison overcrowding

How many hours a week should they require? read the bolded above.

Jail thing is dumb.  They just wouldn't recieve there benefits next month, and obviously there would be a check to certify if your healthy enough to work for benefits.

Charities can better work out if someone is a scrounger or needy if they can't abide by government work for benefits then they need to seek out some charities.

what did you think of my other suggestions?

the government is better imo, a charity is a private company and may have its own agenda (like a christian charity, they might decide that christians deserve benefits and atheists dont) at least if the government controls benefits, we can hold them to account if they do it badly or wrongly.
