In a way, it's like Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt.
This might be their way of trying to get people of the different genres to try out the other genre. The two arguably biggest genres on the 360 are RPGs and Shooters. Fable 2 is a great way to enter casuals or shooter fans into rpgs and Halo is a great way to get RPG fans lured into the shooter genre.
Looks like your scource is good mr stickball.

An Arstechnica source has claimed that a new Xbox 360 Elite bundle is to hit stores complete with Fable 2 and Halo 3.
The package will cost $400, apparently, which is the going rate for the standalone console - meaning the games are free.
Microsoft will supposedly be announcing the bundle over the next week
Nice one.
A strategy they'll use to clear out existing Elite stock for a new model perhaps. Whatever the reason the boost will not be huge but should increase the sales of that particular model without costing much profit.
i might just trade in my own elite...have had it for 5 months with no hardware/software malfunctions whatsoever...but replacing 1 with a brand new model and 2 games of which i have 1 (fable) isnt beyond me
Elites are notoriously hard to move, at least in Europe.
While most arcades and pros now for sale were made in 2009, it's not uncommon to find early 2008 elites on the shelves.
My guess is that they want to clear stock.
Bundling the the best RPG and Shooter performers on your console with the elite makes this a STEAL. I've been looking to change out my old elite for a newer chipset, but I've been waiting for the right time...seems like the time is now, if this is true. I'll just have to sell my the games, since I've already got them.
