No, I'm pretty sure it got a perfect score because the reviewer had a hell of a lot of fun playing it. Which is pretty much all the criteria a game needs. The only reason one would take not being incredible deep and won't redefine the genre as a means to lower the score would be if that made the game less fun or less fun after extended play. Which, in this case, was not the case.

Why dont we all stop pretending we are elite uber gamers and play games for how much fun they are... Who cares its not deep? Is super mario bros a deep game?
This is like the reverse Killzone 2 hype. For that game people were turd mining the bad reviews. For this one we have people cherry picking the one good review in a sea of splatter.

Well, I had much fun with bladestorm, but I would never think of giving it more than 60%.
