Forums - Gaming - Why are video game fans so defensive?

Yeah I agree with Montana, fanboyism isn't exclusive to video games, you've probably not been exposed to much fanboyism in film, books, TV to notice.

Your mostly luckly not to be exposed to comic book fans or weeaboos.  Or even art critics, so much wank goes on in those group.

My guess is that where ever you are discussing your movie choices and music- they kind of have the same taste as you.

Cause there are websites just like this dedicated to Movies,Books, and Music where they fight just like us.

Ultimately, none of this matters- but we like to talk LOUD about it.

why is there hunger in the world ?? why is there war in the world ?? why can't we just get along ???

Except you will get criticized for hating on other mediums. Try saying that one movie format is better than another, or tell the millions of Titanic lovers how much you thought the movie sucked. And don't even get me started on music. Books can pretty much be explained by the average book club.

Does that apply to porn?

Because these things cost money. And if you don't get your money's worth (or feel you're not getting enough) you are pissed off.

Simple answer.

/serious

Everything costs money.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I also hate being accused of flaming just for having an opinion about another person's opinion.

The only time I get defensive is when people make unnecessary generalizations. Like only kids and grandmas buy the wii or that only 40 year old nerds who can't get dates play world of warcraft both of which are not true at all. I don't care if you don't like WoW or the Wii but there's no need to say things that aren't true.
