It's almost impossible to state your opinion without being accused of being a troll, especially on gamefaqs. I don't get criticized for hating on movies or any other form of entertainment. It actually makes me quite sick.

Generally I like to blame this sort of thing on market segmentation. The fact that we can experience the medium via different consoles does contribute to this.

Yeah I agree with Montana, fanboyism isn't exclusive to video games, you've probably not been exposed to much fanboyism in film, books, TV to notice.
