I remember back in the days, it was really popular!
-What happened and when did it happen?
-And why isn't it as popular as it used to be?

It still is popular, however it is despised by people who don't listen to it. Rap is one of the only genres I'm not open to. However there is the occasional track which passes my high standards
Where exacly do you live?
I'm in CA and rap has to be one of the most popular genres here along with rock.
I'm pretty tired of hearing them both, probably cause that's what I grew up around =/
because very hot no talent teenage girls who are willing to take there cloths off can't rap.
Seems if your not young, hot, and undressed, your not a music star anymore.

"I love you and I'm awesome".
The sub for our music class used that line to desribe most of today's music. It's funny yet so true.
The music started appealing to the lowest common denominator.
Before, early 80s- mid-90s, if you didn't have skill on the mic, NO ONE wanted to listen to you.
Now,anybody can get a deal, and rappers who have a higher caliber of delivery aren't given ANY radio play. They have to dumb it down so they can get anything out.
There are legends in rap besides Biggie and Pac (to tell you the truth, I don't listen to those 2)
Ludacris is one, and so is T.I. There are other up-and-coming legends but,I think you get my point.

ive never liked rap and i probably never will, it just has no appealt to me whatsoever.
It's dwindling in popularity? There is a God!
See, atheists? That's all the proof you needed
Rap is one of the worst genres to ever become mainstream. Even disco spits on it's grave.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
