of course microsoft charge for discs, read up on rage, they have to shorten the game for ps3 and pc cause the 360 has to have it compresed on 2 discs cause the developers cant afford the royalties to microsoft for a 3rd disc

 No.

kk thx bye.

Yeah right I heard Iraq has weaponss of mass destruction :D

It's obvious PR spin after few angry phones from MS.

Yeah sure... better believe a random guy on the internet with a "PS3 is the future" signature than Microsoft and the game developer...

But if so: Lost Odyssey sold 900k on 4 discs. So LO created the same revenue for MS like a game that sold 3.6 million... Don't think so.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Well if you prefer to belive into the few days later correction to orginal statement of developer than into who he said in first place then it's your problem not mine.

I already made my opinion, don't confuse me with facts!

LOL!

It would be pretty funny though if Microsoft forced Square-Enix to pay their rediculous fees that start applying to every disc after 2. Say the game comes to 43GB on the BD, then you are looking at a minumum of 7 discs for the 360. If that was to happen it could very easly make the 360 version of the game retail for $99. More than likely though, they will just drop the sound down to extreamly compressed 5.1, and bust the cut scence back to highly compressed 720p. That alone will save tons of GB's.

  1. MS does not charge fees per disc.
  2. A XBox360 disc is something like 9.3 GB. 7 discs = 63GB
  3. It is more expensive to produce a BluRay than a DVD and the 1-disc-games (almost every title) are priced the same, so there won't be a difference for FF XIII. Star Ocean (3discs) or Lost Odyssey (4 discs) aren't more expensive than other games.

Actually it's 6.8gb

But war... war never changes

That actually looks pretty sweet. Multiple-disc games were best done by Square with their nice artwork on each disc.

Does anybody know how big FFXIII is? Im guessing itll be on 2 blu ray single layer disc or one dual layer disc. So technically technically there shouldnt be more than 6 dual layer dvds for the Xbox360 version.

That looks like a soundtrack collection than a game. :S

Hardly PR spin. Do you read many reviews that compare 360 versions vs PS3 versions? 360 versions almost always load faster due to DVD's faster read speeds, and yet you consider a developer mentioning something to that effect as "PR spin".

Im more concerned if the gameplay is affected by multiple-disc. Like is everything accessible (dungeons, towns, places on a map etc) when you're on a certain disc. when youre playing multiple disc rpgs, they tend to cut off certain places off so they can fit the game onto a single disc. hopefully they don't go the SO4 route and force you to pop in a certain disc to access a certain place in game.

And to whomever said that MS charges per disc is retarded. They charge licensing per game, not per disc. The article probably referred to a quote carmack said about the manufacturing cost to produce multiple disc, not extra royalty fees you retard.

Not true.
