I actually liked this episode =) The little action we got felt and looked a lot better than last episode's "climax". The guns, explosions, and fear felt a lot more Holywood/Saving Private Ryan-ish, than the empty feeling I felt when I saw everyone shooting rifles last episode.
Gregor was awesome, they spent only a few minutes out of the entire season to introduce him, and I felt much scared of him than in the game.
The army general was funny, especially when he was telling everyone to stay and fight, and then ran away. Felt sorry for the second in command.
Alicia is definitely more hyper and typical anime girl, but she's bringing a lot of funny moments. I love Welkin, as instead of relying on weirdness like in the game, he's simply more blunt and matter of fact. Faldio was awesome as well, and it'll be cool to see his squad actually fight alongside Squad 7
Overall this was a great buildup to next episode that'll definitely be an entire episode for an entire mission and be action packed. It gave me enough action to feel like this is still about a war. It introduced and reinforced a few characters. And it was funny. I really feel like this season is good now, and the momentum has started and will only build.

For those that are interested Doremi's fansub for EP3 is finally up.
I prefer theirs to Ayako so I'm a bit slow on catching up...

what sense have post the raw version?
=.=
i guess only a few people here know japanese language
the animetion has been kicked up in Episode 4 clearly... since the past 3 episode wasn't really on par so to speak with the studio's other work like Kanagi...
And I think the imperial side hasn't have voice actors change... Maximillian is still voiced by Fukuda Jun which is out right awesome.
