lol @ op.

Theres a bunch of PS3 exclusives to date there are equal to better then on the 360, i would know i own BOTH consoles so i know from a personal aspect.

Microsoft will have the best linup this year.

1. Halo ODST -Biggest selling game on a HD platform in 2009. Only COD MW2 is in the same league as this standalone Halo 3 expansion. The selling point will be the new multiplayer experience in the Halo Universe of course. Multiplayer: All the traditional features of Halo 3 multiplayer will be included in the new game, including full-featured integration with the Forge map editor.

You Really think an Expansion pack is going to be the best selling game on HD platforms? You do realize that the release of GT5 in 2009 is a strong possibility right?.

2.Forza 3 - OK, Microsft didn't release any racing games in 2008. Usually they have one racing game in their yearly lineup. ALSO, PGR4 was announced in E3 2007 and was released in the fall of 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gotham_Racing_4
So, we know it is coming....Forza 3 that is. PGR5 or a New Rallisport will be
sweet too.

The Game is nothing but a rumor so please wait till E3 before you start putting it on a list.

3. All Points Bulletin (APB) - http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=61039
This game will be the Crackdown/GTA on a MMO scale. This game will be huge IMO and will served as a counter of sort to MAG on the PS3. Common, we have the maker on Crackdown making an opened World Sandbox game. This game is what GTA should have been.

4. Killer Instinct 3 - OK, Rare is making this and it is coming out this year. Worst kept secret ever. It was also rumored that Microsoft has a new game based on a popular online fighter. You put 2 plus 2 together, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out this game is coming out this year. Also, with the recent success of SF4 and to a lesser extend MK vs DC Universe, and Tekken 6 upcoming, no doubt Fighting games are making a strong comeback.

5. Perfect Dark 2 - The second game of the Rare dynamic duo in 2009. After the kiddie stuff like VIva Pinata, and a system launching game in PD0, this one will show the true graphics, gameplay powess of the RARE we love and know from the Nintendo days. Along with Halo ODST, this game will be marketed like a Gears of War from Microsoft, no doubt. I see a November release for his game, a few weeks apart from COD MW2 of course.

I doubt Rare will be able to pull two games off in the same year. If anything expect this to come out in 2010

6. Alan Wake - This game was announced back in the KZ2 E3 trailer days like over 3.5 years ago. I think it should be ready by go this fall, ES is the perfect opportunity to showcase this graphics masterpiece.

We know next to nothing on this game and all fingers are pointing to a 2010 release.

7. SPlinter Cell Conviction - Was announced all the way back like 3 years ago. Went through some changes and was suppose to be release last year but was delayed , according to Ubsoft to booster their 2009 lineup. Expect this game to be out this fall as one of the blockbuster (Splinter Cell is a true AAA franchise)

Most likely another 2010 release with the chance of it going multiplat.

8. Lost Planet 2 - Already announced a month ago and showed more gameplay footage than GOW3, MAG, Heavy Rain combined already. Since all three games are suppose to be released this year on the PS3, I don't see why wouldn't lost Planet 2 make it out on X360 this year as well. This may be timed exclusive but it will be only on xbox 360 for at least 6-12 months.

With Capcom announcing their plans to go fully multi plat and the disappointing sales of Lost Planet due to it being a Year Old Port this will most likely be a Multiplat title.

*9. Bungie Secret New IP - ODST was a side project done a small team. It will be 2 years since the release of Halo 3 and Bungie already announced they were working on a couple of new peojects right after Halo 3 was completed. I got to admit it might not make it in 2009 but can't wait what Bungie has in store for us. I think they will announced something to begin the Microsft hype Machine going again.

Although I highly doubt it Bungie is now a 3rd party studio and might infact release a new IP thats multiplat.

With this solid lineup, how can you say Microsft has no good game left? This lineup wil easily equal or pawned that of the PS3 in 2009.

I think this could be true, as in 2010 -2011, Halo 4, Gears of War 3, Fable 3, PGR5, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Crackdown 2, The 2 lionhead games, Two more from Rare, Bungie new IPS(see above), Mistwalker New RPGs will all make the xbox 360 stay ahead of the PS3 until the release of the Next Box in 2012.

Expect a lot of DS and Wii games from Mistwalker

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Your list is laughable.

1. The only game on your list that is confirmed for a 2009 release is Halo 3: ODST.

2. Lost Planet 2 is apparently coming out in 2010.

3. Last I've heard, APB is currently only in development for PC with any console release, including PS3, still pending. Furthermore, it's been almost a year since we've heard anything about the game so it could effectively be considered vaporware at this point.

4. Killer Instinct 3 and Perfect Dark 2 are pure speculation. There's nothing solid to suggest either game is in development, much less coming this year. Rare is no doubt working on something, but considering that they didn't release anything big between Viva Pinata all the way back in 2006 and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts at the end of 2008, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a major game released this year from them, much less two.

5. Project Gotham Racing 4 was announced in September 2006.

MS dont need new good games, because were getting exclusive great DLC (some for free) to keep our great games going, while we give our devs time to polish the new games coming out, unlike other companys they dont just drop the current game and make a new one and show no support.

Exactly.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

I really don't care if MS out performs Sony this year. The Xbox 360 is definitely getting some great games whether its 3rd party or 1st party so I won't be bored. I'm just glad I'm not stuck with a Wii.

In term of sale? MS has this already in the bag, or should I said Halo does. Nothing in Sony's arsenal besides GT5 has the ability to match the brand power of a Halo FPS, and Sony's has been skirting with GT5's release date for ages, but it looks at this stage like a firm 2010 release.

In term of Graphic? I'm sorry, even without Killzone 2, I doubt any game on the 360 could match what I've seen of Heavy Rain, Alan Wake is the only contender worth a quarter but I think even that is a long shot.

In term of quality of games? That is a lot more contentious, especially with so many games hovering around without a release date. Best to wait for E3 at least, were we'll likely get some solid date for a few games.

I believe this thread! They're too quiet IMO. I think that vsXIII will be announced as PS360 title on E3. Aside from that more big things will come.

Same thing for me.... or I hope so...

IMO, if Sony already showed its cards is because they have nothing else to do ...

I disagree. The IPs/games I stated were created with the 360 in mind with a decision to port it to the PC at a later stage. Heck you cant (and wont ever) play Gears 2 on PC. And these IPs are massively more succesful on the 360 than their PC counterpart. I firmly believe that if the 360 didnt exist, none of those games would have - because MS' investment in Rare/Epic/Bungie/BioWare were definitely part of their 360 strategy.

Are you sure about that?  Games like Mass Effect/ Alan Wake totally appear like 'PC' born games.   What good IPs has Rare given Microsoft?  Bungie / Epic  (Halo and Gears) and....  Bioware makes PC games and always has.

And secondly, I dont really have to argue on the above because consoles dont give birth to IPs, the publishing companies and developers with the ideas do. These 2 elements dictate the hardware/console. And thats why I am talking about MS and Sony rather than the 360 and PS3. So to answer your question on what IPs MS came up with, I would give you the same list as before. What is the difference of Sony paying the wages/bills for Insomniac/Naughty Dog so they have to make it on the PS3?

The point is,  if I want to get truly original, unique, IPs that differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack.  Sony has always provided that better than Microsoft has.  That continues onward today.  Which is precisely the point.  I have played numerous 360 games on my PC.

Dont get me wrong though, Im not trying to flame you or say you cant prefer Sony/PS3. The bottom line of what Im trying to say is - you said you prefer the PS3 because Sony created IP, Im saying MS created IP as well. You made it sound like only Sony did.

Sony has created so many IPs with more consistency and this has happened since the Playstation brand formed.  Microsoft to date has stamped their name on Ex-PS2 exclusives.  (Which is great for 360 gamers)  but the fact remains that there isn't any creativity in that.   So what?  What 'new' games are you going to offer me?   I don't think the 360 delivers as well in that regard.

We seem to be going around in circles so I would just say I totally respect your preference in Sony's new IP creation so far since this generation of consoles started, and Microsoft has new consistent IP creation as well. PS3 purchasers get to enjoy new IPs such as Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, LBP and 360 purchasers get to enjoy new IPs such as Gears, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata and Crackdown. And both companies will still be looking to generate new ones from now on. Creativity stems from the ideas of the developers - Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Rare, Epic and does not come by a bunch of management people sitting on a board who decide what and who to pay. And so far this gen, both companies have funded successful and creative IPs. So as much as you prefer the fact that Sony funded their developers to create these new IP, I dont see how this is different from MS funding their own chosen developers to create new IP.
