Forums - Microsoft - I Firmly Believe MS Will Announce A Game This Year That .........

Microsoft doesn't do a great job of making new IP's. They just spend money, they don't create.

I'll give them massive props for Halo and Gears of War, but other than that they have nothing.

The PS2 won its generation by having the best 3rd party support. That's great they have better 1st party games now but the masses don't really give a shit about them.

well june will be coming up shortly.........only 2 notable games from 360 halo wars and ninja blade released in 6months, they will have a few good games latter part of year though

Halo Wars

Star Ocean The Last Hope

GTAIV: The Lost and Damned

Ninja Blade

Fable 2: Knothole Island

Fallout 3: Operation: Anchorage

Fallout 3: The Pitt

Tomb Raider Underworld: Beneath the Ashes

Tomb Raider Underworld: Lara's Shadow

Yeah.. nothing notable came out in the first couple of months of 2009...

Ninja Blade and a bunch of DLC? Gimme a break, especially since most of the DLC you listed has gotten medicore - average reviews.

I dont think they would need to announce anything else to surpass anything on PS3. Splinter Cell Conviction and more then likely Alan Wake will do that fine by themselves.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Yeah 1M - 3.5M isn't the masses...that's just a small group of people.

But it doesn't matter anyway, i play games for my own enjoyment, it doesn't matter if it sells 1M or 10M. (unless better sales guarantee a sequel)

Ah yes, but sales do guarentee sequels. I do agree with you to the point that I want my sequels to complete the stories the author intended. And I don't want them to make crappy sequels with a fast ending to end the series. As long as a game sells enough to give it a complete sequel, it's a win in my book.

I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.

Unfortunately to quite a few posters on VGC, MS can do absolutely nothing right. Even amongst the above posts, there is talk about 'buying' exclusives and spending money. Look, all companies spend money, first of all. Second of all, they spend money on creating games for us, and in a market environment, if the game is not good then they will have lost money - this is a free market. Third of all, you need to spend money to give birth to IP. Nintendo spends money on their developers and Miyamoto for their ideas, Sony spends money on Insomniac and Naughty Dog for their ideas and Microsoft spends money on Epic and Bungie for their ideas.

I agree.  That's one pf the biggest reasons I prefer the PS3 to the 360.  I don't know how many franchises found their success on a Sony system only to go multi-platform or whatever and not even slow them down.   Even this generation which has saw tons of defection to the  multi-platform realm.     Sony has come out with tons of new IPs.   (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance, MAG, Little Big Planet).

Microsoft has allowed 'tons' of new successful IP to be created this gen as well - Gears, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata, Crackdown, and Alan Wake (since you want to mention MAG - an unknown quantity just the same).

Hell yeah, some Crackdown lovin.

MS dont need new good games, because were getting exclusive great DLC (some for free) to keep our great games going, while we give our devs time to polish the new games coming out, unlike other companys they dont just drop the current game and make a new one and show no support.
