(1)A serious gamer would be the kind of player that thinks he'd get the most out of a FPS game if he could play it with a mouse instead of a stick, since it give you superior aim. (2)And a serious gamer within the FPS genre, would be the guy that competes against other serious gamers for cash prices. SO.. the one that buys a game like this on a console are either US residence or like to play around with their friends in public servers with his/her thompson.

(1) Why? Do you have something to prove this with? I've seen some very good, competitive players playing Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360 using a gamepad. Sub that in for PS3 also. However, if those players were "serious gamers" in your mind, they would have invested in the best way to play the game control wise, which means buying a 10 thousand dollar arcade machine right?

(2) A professional gamer plays for cash prizes. That is what the term "professional" means when in connection with competitive sports. "Serious" is never used in connection to this. Look it up.

Oh, so some actual investigation on my part seem to indicate this is fake. Sweetness.

Well like i replied above, a serious FPS gamer is a competetive one. And by competetive i dont mean "oh lets boot up and win a Deathmatch game". Im talking about tournaments, lan and ladders. And i mean teaming up with 5 others to fight other teams. Practising defensive positions and tactical nades. If you're serious about the game and the multiplayer for a FPS game, you'd buy this on a PC hands down.

Obviously you could buy this game for its singleplayer only, still i think the feel of the game would be far superior with a PC due to aim and movement.

But im guessing most people in here play the game so that they can boot up and just randomly kill people on a random public server and claim the top spot, and feel awesome doing so.

1.  Well no.. since last i checked SF wasnt a FPS.
2. Well no.. since you're just talking semantics.

What the hell is this madness about serious gamers and PC bollocks. Seems like some shit stirring PC elitism to me.

Playing: InFamous, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga, Modern Warfare 2

Who even buys this game on a console? This game will be huge in the US, cus those guys are the only ones who take their console FPS games serious.

Bold words. There are 3.85 million people in Europe that would disagree with you though.

Didnt say europe wouldnt buy the game at all, think it will go big there aswell, but not as big as in the US. I think the US will eat it up like starving dogs. And the US is by far the only country who plays console FPS competetive and are damn proud about it.

Everyone else are just public heros playing the game for fun, but with a desire to win offcourse, who wants to lose!?. But a serious gamer would get this on a PC.

Uuuhm.... NO

 Uuuhm.... YES

Not much of a competetive scene compared to the PC side now is it?

*facepalm*

Just because the PC is more popular in Europe than the HD consoles and thus could create a competitive gaming scene doesn't mean console owners aren't serious gamers. Infact I AM a serious gamer and I'll buy Modern Warfare 2 for 360.

And I know MANY people who bought CoD4 on PC because they want to play it single-player only or multiplayer just for fun.

So let me ask you. What makes you a serious gamer? And why would you chose to play the game on a console rather than a PC?

My PC couldn't run Modern Warfare 2, it couldn't run CoD:MW 1. My 360 can, and at no extra charge. Well, that and the fact that I've used the 360 controller enough to be able to get just about the same aiming ability with it that I'd have with a mouse/keyboard.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

So, on GameBattles, there are 10* more 360 CoD4 players than PC.

1. You're right. It's not an FPS. It's a far more competitive series with a richer history, in a genre known more for it's competitive nature than FPS is. It gives my point far more meaning.

2. So if I'm just talking semantics, then that must mean you really meant professional gamer and serious gamer are interchangeable terms, so you're actually talking about professional gamers. In that case, read SamuelIRSmith's post above mine. That should end this quickly.
