I never said that voice-chat isn't better than text chat. All im saying is that PSN does its main objective, gaming, better than live. Plus PSN is only free, and is improving all the time. The next-update will probably bring voice-chat

text chat is used quite a bit in PC gaming. It is a very useful way to communicate with your clan during a scrim without spamming your mic since your mostlikely in a voice channel with the squad your in versus your entire clan.

So really Sony is trying to pull PC style chat into the PS3. I applaud them.

So you can have your opinion about text chat but as a PC gamer I understand its usefulness.

This is one of the reasons why PC gaming will always top console gaming if this is your attitude. You can control mic spam without losing communication abilities.

^Ass, haha. Creatively done though.
Didn't know you can talk to someone while he's watching a movie.
That sounds rather distracting.

Although Ali's point centered around gameplay itself, with how PSN isn't laggy even with 32 players, with the reasoning that gameplay is the main objective of online gaming.

yes and no.

Voice chat can get annoying as hell. Especially if you have to deal with the crybabies on LIVE all the time that spam the mic. You might as well block all voice chat half the time versus just one person.

Text chat is a quiet communication method that doesn't affect concentration.

Like I said, its very useful for competitive gaming but its also very useful for LANs and sometimes online gaming if you can setup a proper match with complete strangers (which is only possible on PC since some console gamers are mostly immature tards)

I live with both and LIVE is still superior... not sure how long for mind you, but right now it is.

Firmware updates will only go so far. One of the reasons why I prefer Live is that everyone has a headset and they're pretty much all of a decent quality.

What's the point in cross game chatting if no one has headsets, or it sounds like they're chewing 'em all the time?
