Forums - Gaming - Who Is The Worst Main Villain In A JRPG?

I swear we just had this same thread a few weeks ago, I remember getting into a lengthy debate over Ultimecia with Khuutra in it.

Mithos was pretty terrible.

What were we arguing about, blaydcor? I forget.

Necron appeared because Kuja destroyed the crystal (which IIRC can destroy life because it was a life source? Or either destroy that one tree. I don't remember exactly but it was something along this lines.) so Necron assumed that everyone didn't really care about the world anymore so he wanted to return the world back to zero. So yes, he did make sense in appearing. The crystal WAS important. Necron then was defeated and said he'd come back as long as there are people who want to destroy the world.

@hatmoza

Kuja was the second to last boss.

True, but he wasnt the face of evil throughout the game like Kuja was

Thats like saying Sephiroth wasnt the villian in FF VII . Jenova was (which is ironcally true)

At least Sephiroth was the final boss. Jenova wasn't, and Necron was.

Hold on hold on !! I had to come back to this !!

Sephiroth is Jenova ! You never actually see him in the game . All you see is Jenova in the shape of Sephiroth . Why do you think you always had a Jenova fight everytime you bumped into him ? Read it up , something about Sephiroth over powering Jenova and manipulating it however he wanted .

I think it was about Ultimecia's apparent lameness as a villain versus the perceivable depth she could have if you viewed her as Rhinoa many years down the line; basically you pontificated lengthily on various "Ultimecia theories" which lent her complexity and depth as a character in response to me saying she was a lame villain, with us ultimately concurring that she really wasn't that great of an archvillain

Man screw Ultimecia

I just

That theory made her good, but nooooo.

However, she wasn't an out-of-nowhere like Necron. They started alluding to her starting on Disk 2.

Grandia 3. That stupid brother of the female protagonist.

The final battle against him was epic though.

Btw, I like Ultemecia, but she's the toughest final boss ever!

You really have to play more JRPGs.

I've played tons. She's still the hardest.

What tougher RPGs would you recommend?

Nyx in Persona 3.
