Forums - Gaming - Sony: "MAG only possible on PS3", is an "iteration of Socom"

but will it work when not playing with people you know? What stops the individual from doing what he wants? This 8 man squad sounds nice and all if you're playing like a team. But how will you get 16 different teams of 8 to work together? And will it be fun as an individual?

I mean, one man can make a difference in a 5v5 Search & Destroy game. But what if my side of this 128 vs 128 battle get reduced by 80% due to a carpet bomb or whatever. How much of an impact can the rest of us have on the game? And if our entire mech.squad gets taken down, are we suppose to move on by foot over this huge map?

I hope they have some nice ideas for gameplay, cus im not sure at all about this game.

Are they ever gonna give us more news about this game? The game is supposedly to be released in 2009. I think it will get delayed to 2010.

Too many players in one online game 256 players is crazy. Anyway I prefer smaller numbers in online games up to 32 players in one match in total is ideal.
A quick game is a good game.

Good luck trying to find 256 total players in one match. I hope there are smaller battles say 32 , 64 or 128 in total.

From what info has already been released, it sounds like while maps may be persistent, you'll constantly have teams entering and exiting ongoing games.

So no; you won't be waiting in a lobby for up to 256 players to join. That pretty much goes beyond the boundaries of common sense.

It almost sounds like an MMO FPS. Presumably, maps will be large enough to be segmented into different regions, the key difference being that teams from different areas can still interact with other teams/missions and cross over boundaries.

Technically, you should be able to play on the same map with other squads on your side and never actually see them or interact with them directly, just like a real battlefield.

Should be interesting to see how it actually works.

A lot of people bought their statement as facts. Sony knows it's a lie. We know it's a lie. But if the rest of the world believe them. It's all that matter for marketing point of view.

Resistance 2 says hi. Have you guys ever tried the 60 player mp in that game? It works very well; the squads are given an objective, and they have a rival squad trying to prevent them from achieving that objective and vice versa. I'd imagine we'll be seeing something similar to this.
