Forums - General - $52,300 for a family of 4 is what the government needs to collect.

I'd like to mention while most families don't make that much, theres a good handfull of people who make millions a year.

The top 1% starts at 388k. So while a very small portion of families make a million or more a year, I am not sure why that makes it there responsibility to subsidize 25% of the tax burden for a family of 5 making 150k.

First off, stock markets are not a good indicator of anything except for people's irrational (and often emotionally based) expections of what the market will look like in 6 months ... One of the primary reasons the markets have been rallying is that the markets have been rallying and people are putting their money back into the market for fear of missing their opportunity to make a lot of money; within 6 weeks we will see the markets noticeably lower than they currently are after negative data (or possibly just a lack of positive data) impacts people's confidence, the market drops and people sell for fear of losing everything.

With that said ...

People who support Obama's actions are (primarily) unwilling to consider that the decisions that are being made will make the country and economy far worse in the long run ... Even if the unemployment rate hits 20% and inflation spikes up to 20% they will still believe that it would have been so much worse if Obama's plan wasn't executed.

And even if the economy does rally and recover people will believe it would have been so much better if Obama hadn't pushed this budget through.

Few countries survive with a debt to GDP ratio of 75%, and you expect that the US economy will rally after it passed 100% and is tracking towards 150% at a record pace?

Realize I come from a family of people who make more than 1 million a year, CEOs and the like. There's a reason why I have no sympathy for them. I know how they run.

Of all the averages to use, you used the median? That's ridiculous.

Find me a better one, all the stats I can find use median.

Simply because you have no sympathy for other people who pull in as much money as your family does, does not mean they are the same or have the same behavior. (assuming that the behavior is the reason for the lack of sympathy)

I have always noticed that the people who got everything they ever wanted without needing to earn it always seem to be on the Progressive end of the spectrum ...

Yes, because the economy needs to be stimulated given the current circumstances. I don't think a budget like this should happen again in the near future because the US is in enough debt.

Basically as far as I see it Obama is trying to avoid having an equivalent of Japans lost decade.

The DOW seems to be pretty happy with the way things are going. Was up 216 points today. That's three days of gains in a row.

DOW is doing ok, but howz the bond?  Bond has to go up as well.

OT:  The gov. should just give me that money.  Extra $50k will get me health care and good education.

I have earned what I have. My family does not associate with the richer part of the family. Do you realize what happens when you have excessive amounts of money? And this really applies to all, as we are all human. You become disconnected with reality. You no longer appreciate life, love, all that stuff. You treat most people as your servants. You think love can only be expressed in material gifts.

Also, you remain a member of the republican party, but as the people who are really pulling the strings. You control the poorer members, convincing them of complete hogwash. I would know, I've heard my grandfather go on enough rants.

As many rich are Democrats as they are Republicans. I love how you have an idea of a group of people, and then are happy with treating that group with far less respect or rights then others.

This country was put into place to protect all of us from people who think like you.
