Forums - Gaming - Your One Favorite Aspect of the Final Fantasy Series?

So with all the hate everyone here has been giving SE and the Final Fantasy series (Mostly XII) what is the one aspect that you really love about Final Fantasy?

For me it was the music and soundtrack. I loved FFVII's and as a guilty pleasure VIII's. I don't remember much about IX (probably because I never played the old Final Fantasies and didn't get many of the references and nostalgia throughout that entire game). X had a few awesome tracks, but it didn't have as many sweet background/non bossfight tracks.

XII had the most boring soundtrack. I like ambience and I don't expect every track to be memorable, but I don't even remember the final boss track. I didn't like the addition of a modern sounding track for the ending either.

Around the Network

Ar Toncelico I & II soundtrack >>>>>>>>>>> All FFs combined. "liberi fatali" and "the landing" are the best FF has done IMO. I thought Nobuo Uematsu was a god until I heard hymnos. Hymnos speaks to the soul. It's too bad everything else about those games are average.

I like FFs "immersion" more than all other jRPG series. And by "immersion", I mean the exploration, summons, worlds, NPCs, side-bosses (many jRPGs neglect this respect but for hardcore jRPG fans like myself, it's nice to fight bosses that are actually challenging), side-quests. The budget of FF (which makes these things possible) is really what sets the series apart from other jRPGs

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Story!

Random battles contained in a purpose built area (not the areas you wander round in) with a good battle and magic system to back it up.

Music is always fantastic also.

Hmm, pie.

I was considering my post about XII having a "normal" track for its ending, but remembered that VIII had one too. So I guess I just thought XII's ending song wasn't memorable.
