Forums - Gaming - Forget the Ps3 10 Year Plan -- NINTY feels the WII CAN LAST LONG Too!!

I don't think wii will persist past the release of the wii2.
The graphics won't hold up, and if the interest is really in the control, then wii2 will have that as well.

The PSX lasted until well into the PS2's lifetime. In 2003 most developers like EA and Square stop developing games for it. Also the PS2 is lasting a while during the current PS3's lifetime. Graphics do not determine whether a system lasts. As long as developers continue to support the console with new games then it will continue on. This will happen with the Wii.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Some of the reasons of that are:
price gap
game library
compatibility
slim designs
greatest hits

that's the difference between the companies. Sony engineers it so that the older consoles are still very appealing. Nintendo will probably use the same ideas. VC is one of those ways because we don't know if they will transfer. *squints* yaknow what i mean? :P

Well... every system that's been in first place has lasted more then 5-6 years since the NES.

No surprise there.

And Nintendo is known to lag when they have a winner.

SNES didn't come out until Gensis started beating the NES.

N64 was late to the market comparitvily... I think?

Wii will extremely be outdated in a few years. Nintendo's next-gen console better be a powerhouse, or I'll stay away from it.

Just like the PS2 and the Wii in the face of the HD consoles, right?

Even after they release their next console (by late 2012?) the Wii will still be supported (esp by niche third parties like Atlus or something) and Nintendo will ship more. The Wii will definitely still be here by 2016 and beyond (10 years+) just like the PS2 will be. That doesn't mean they won't release a new console by 6 years though.

wii=/=ps2. we'll see

How about the NES in the face of the Genesis.

Or the SNES in the face of the PS1.

The PS1 in the face of the Dreamcast.

Price. Why letting the whole entry level market to Sony, that keeps on selling its previous gen console for this purpose?
