My birthday is coming up and need some suggestions on what wife should get me for birthday present. Has to be something technology related. A pint of beer or $1000VGChartz for person with best suggsetion.

I need a new mobile phone and a new mp3 player and was hoping the Nokia N97 would be out by now so could get that as both my phone and mp3 player but unfortunately Nokia haven't been that sharp. I hate Apple so not interested in an iphone or any Apple mp3 player. A few months ago a PS3 would have been a good option since I needed a media player but already bought a standalone media player and already have a 360 so it wouldn't get much if any use for games. Which would mean its only use would be as a blu ray player but would much much rather get a standalone blu ray player so not sure any point getting PS3. Could aks for a DSi to replace my aging DS but will be shortselling myself since I can get that anytime anyway so would just be asking for present which I was probably going to get.

Gosh no suggestions from anyone? Shame on you all.

how about some nice surround sound

Already have an £800 amp and an £800 speaker package so though a good idea not right for me.

I'd suggest a PS3 since it is both a video game and blu-ray player, but you do have a X360. I bought a PS3 because I could get it for the same prices as the Blu-ray player I was looking at.

If I were to suggest a blu-ray player it would be Sony BDP-S550 since it about the same quality as a PS3 from what I understand. The comparable model is the S350, but that doesn't come with the built in memory so you have to buy a chip and plug it in the back to use all of the Blu-Ray features.

sounds like you already have everything. do you have tivo and a year subscription.

For £500 you could probably get a half decent tablet PC, or something along those lines.

We don't get Tivo in the UK (atleast, I don't think we do), we do, however, get Sky+/Sky+HD... which is far better.

Tivo is just a DVR, so any DVR would work. Tivo is just the original brand to be marketed in the US.
