Forums - Gaming - Will the PS3 ever catch up?

yeah it will. A price drop this year to $300 will help it pick up major ground.

In 2-3 more years it could be down to $200.

And mark my words, no console can compete with a $200 PS3. Not even a $99 wii would outsell a $200 PS3.

 I'd be willing to bet a $250 Wii would outsell a $200 PS3.

Anyway, this has been asked numerous times and when you crunch the numbers the PS3 needs to outsell the 360 by some ridiculous number on a weekly basis just to catch up. It's not going to catch up while this gen is relevant.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

Not even worth thinking about for the wii...

As to the 360, it's not likely unless Microsoft releases a new console much earlier than Sony discontinues the PS3. I would put it at about 20% now... A year ago I had it closer to 40%.

One of the most logical posts in this thread. Thank you, sir.

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.

Honestly, I can't see why the PS3 wouldn't outsell the 360 eventually. Taking a look at each consoles sales since launch, PS3 consistently tracks over 360. As long as PS3 continues to do this, it will likely move ahead when 360 sales begin to dry up at the end of the generation.
