Definitely not scary. Screwed up, yes. A realistic portrayal of drug abuse, yes. Scary, no.
Watch it. If you have any taste in movies, you'll appreciate it. Then go watch Pi and The Wrestler, two other brilliant Aronofsky films. The Fountain has its moments but I didn't care for the end at all.
