You can join the army at 18 ( I think? ) but not legally buy alcohol till your 21. Yeah , seems reasonable........

Couldn't have explained it any better. I just think that most people are so used to government being in their lives that they don't view it in the way you presented above.

i havent posted much even though i started this thread, but a few people have summed up my opinions rather well. the thing is, is i could argue and give my statistics and sources and debate till i am blue in the face and im sure i wont change your opinions, just as you doing the same will never change mine. i do think that people need to realize that there will always be corrupt people who get into power, (weather we agree on who the corrupt one is....) and as a nation we need to be able to make sure that that person/persons dont take us to a point of destruction....it could happen, and people need to get their heads out of the clouds and start paying attention to what is going on so that we never let things get to that point.
oh, and i dont think i will post another political thread again...too stressfull

If I recall that was utterly horrified, scared, and united in the fear of a still unknown cause to a series of plane crashes the day before. So we're trying to go back to that again? What's funny is that I believe the terrorists have the same dream for Americans, get them back to 9/12/01. |
Can anyone address this at all? I know it's far too on-topic to catch much notice, but still, I'd like to know why it's a good idea to promote the togetherness wrapped around our commons fears like we were on 9/12/01. I just don't get why that is a day we'd like to recapture and bottle.

the point was not the traggity it was the togetherness and unity that we experiance in the midst of it...that is what is wanted to be recaptured.....maybe to you they picked a bad innaligy, but that was the point.

I think it's funny that in all places, this thread was what made me think of Final Fantasy 7. Anyone who's played the full game and remembers the plot surrounding Shinra would get it. Don't want to ruin it for anyone else (even though it's been out for over a decade).

It's the basis of the entire website. If it's a bad analogy then doesn't this whole website and it's motto become worthless? We were stuck togther in fear and the unknown on 9/12/01. We were also extremely prejudiced against middle easterns on 9/12/01 but I'm sure everyone would like to forget that part, or maybe that's part of the motto also.
I still don't understand the togetherness of this website. It mentions God, which is a devisive force in itself regarding community and government, and that happens to be an important talking point of this website. What about atheists? Are they not welcome to this 9/12/01 re-enactment barbeque? Or did they just not exist 8 years ago?

I haven't played the game in 10 years. Can you explain it and just black it out for spoilers? I'd greatly appreciate knowing the connection.

At some point in the game, probably Disc 2, the new president of Shinra declares that he will be a greater leader than his father ever was because he will be able to unify the citizens and lead through fear. I'm sure there are a bunch of other mediums with which I could compare to this situation, but I thought this one was the most hilarious.
I'm not sure I fully understand the project, since the website is unorganized and crappy and I just don't feel like watching any boring videos. But from what you've described, it sounds like an awful thing.
