Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 1.21 Patch Announced! Bots are back!

It’s been a while since the last Killzone 2 update, so it was great to hear that Guerrilla Games is planning on releasing the new 1.21 patch early this week. There are a lot of fixes, but some of the major ones include the re-addition of bots to online play as well as unranked matches. Oh, and the zoom auto-aim exploit will be gone too, so no more cheating to get those headshots! Here’s the complete list of what the patch will add, taken from Seb Downie’s post at the official KZ2 forums:

-Increase of the standard points settings for Bodycount. Should ensure longer mode on heavily populated games.
-The return of Online Bots. Adding bots to an online game renders it ‘unranked’.
-The option to create unranked games. Players will be made aware that a game is unranked upon joining.
-Fix to Game Search functionality so correct maps are displayed.
-Standardization of the Y-Axis controls on the HGH Scout when zoomed with the Sniper Rifle.
-Fix to Sensitivity setting where the weapon animation did not follow the reticule correctly.
-Fix for auto-aim exploit when rapidly tapping zoom/fire.
-Fix to infrequent collision issues with C4 Proximity mines.
-Fix to list of games displayed on search.
-Stability fix relating to disconnect.
-Fix to ‘Clan’ button functionality in custom game creation settings.

We are also working on the next updates and here are some of the areas we are exploring and investigating for the future patches:

-Controls. Seeing about giving more options.
-Expanding on Join Game searches and options.
-Improving game and network stability.
-Collision exploits on maps.
-Improvements to help play with friends.
-More game creation options.
-More game options for clans.
-Fixes to Clans unexpectadly losing tournament rounds.
-Other minor fixes.

Good to hear, but this thread is fucked.

You are right! Somehow my sig ended up on top of me in the article. Don't know how to fix it...

I hope they add more options....way more - KZ2 feels like it lacks variety. I barely even play it anymore.

Hopefully they'll do some class adjustments too. GG talked so much about making the game tactical....most online matches are just huge clusterf***s.

Glad bots are back, but I still have absolutely no idea why Skirmish mode gives you a lousy 3 options to change, while creating your own online game gives you access to everything. You can't even change the damn gametype in Skimrish mode, seriously what the hell.....now I'm startin to remember why I don't play as much anymore.

I'm farly confident that we shall be getting some announced DLC soon :)

As for online I think the 24 person setting is ideal for the smaller maps, too many people and you cannot turn around without an RPG going up your ass.

I usually join 16 player matches. There's 2 issues that I have though:

- Not sure if it's been fixed, but using the "Quick Join" option will always put you in a 32 player match, even if your filters are set to somethin else. The fix to that is selecting a game from the list yourself.

- The somewhat big but really annoying issue is that you can't see the settings for the matches on the server list.  Some games disable certain classes along with having other funky options, such as making everyone on the radar visible which turns the game even more into a run'n'gun fest.

I'd play with bots much more often, but seeing as you can only change the map/bot limit/bot difficulty, it gets boring fast. It uses the standard "warzone" template settings, and those matches last upto like 20 mins. I couldn't possibly finish a bot match without eventually quitting.

I guess I do sound a little bitter, but I just don't understand how GG managed to leave these things out, along with other obvious issues.

More options? You're a mad man! I'm rounding 30 hours online and still have so much to unlock.

I know what you mean.  I hate getting to a game and being stuck as a footsoldier with a little rifle.  That is what irritates me the most, as labeling the games is not well done.  This must be fixed!

I would still say that I support this game 100% and am very very happy with it.

=l

Yes more options, not more unlocks. When I say options I mean basic stuff like round time/score limit/friendly fire/player health/HUD on or off/etcetc. I'm kinda dissapointed that Assassination was made specifically for "warzone" - I made an Assassination-only match and after 1 person on each team is killed, it's the end of the game already. It becomes tedious. Then there's Search and Retrieve, where you can set exacly how many times the thing has to be returned. Somethin like that should've been done for Assassination.

More unlocks actually wouldn't hurt though - I got max rank in less than a week. I'm only missing 2ndary badges and the only reason I haven't got those is because some of them are ridiculously hard to get. That along with their funky system of having to perform a goal a certain amount of times in a single match, compared to CoD4/5 where challenge-specific goals always add up.

KZ2's setup does discourage laziness in a way, but it becomes a hassle considering the fact that you can never get a server's setting info before you join, so you'll never know when the match is actually gonna end. Abit annoying when you just need 1 more kill for a ribbon only to have the match end unexpectedly.

The footsoldier with a little rifle could've been useful if they gave it the ability to use a 2ndary badge. My original plan when I first started playin online was to combine the Helghast LMG (damn ammo hog) with the Repair tool to fix up the ammo crates. Then I was dissapointed when I found out it wasn't possible =/

Doesn't really matter though - Assault's braindead overpowered explosive weps + the repair tool is a better combination anyways. It's an obvious imbalance.
