I don't get it, are there some requirements to use them or something? That seems grossly imbalanced.

At the beginning of each round a player is randomly selected on each team to be Raiden and Vamp so each team has a "super" character to balance out the other. While they are strong they are also beatable. I saw a video online where someone pretty good was playing as Raiden and was still getting a death for every 2 kills.
