Forums - Sony - PixelJunk Eden profitable after one day of sales

Publishers looking for a quick buck don't need to focus their efforts solely on the iPhone. Sony's Susan Panico touted the values of PSN development by providing a case study on PixelJunk Eden, Q-Games' third PSN-exclusive title. Panico told the GamesBeat audience that "PixelJunk Eden made its return on investment within 24 hours." Sales after that period become pure profit.

Of course, the success of Eden is a little unsurprising, considering the popularity of PixelJunk Monsters. Regardless, it's impressive that a small independent studio was able to create a trusted franchise exclusively through the PlayStation Network. With so much green made off of Eden, it's no wonder Q-Games is working on an expansion for the game. Eden Encore will be available in April.

[insert generic 'Go PSN!' comment]

not sure it's a good example though since PixelJunk Monsters already laid the foundation to make PixelJunk Eden profitable.

I would be interested to know how long it takes for PixelJunk Monsters to be profitable.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Monsters is amazing, can't imagine it took long. There was also PixelJunk Racers before that - Not as good as Monsters but an underrated game in my opinion.

never played PixelJunk monsters, but PixelJunk Eden was an amazing game wow! I looooved it...I really wish they had that game for the PSP, because i would go buy a PSP specifically for that game :]

The game works on remote play. Better played locally to reduce the lag, but I have played it over the internet at work before. A little laggy, but worth a try.

I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.

care to expand a little more on 'remote play'

Remote Play =

*You can play the game on your PSP (Game is displayed on your PSP screen)?
*You can use your PSP as a controller (Game is displayed on your TV)?
*If my PS3 is on with the game inserted, I can be in another city playing the game as long as I have an internet connection?

Sorry for not understanding what 'Remote Play' is :/
