Going a little back on topic. I'm Canadian. I live in Quebec. Montreal, specifically. I found a couple of parts of that broadcast funny, but overall the humor was a little weak. But I'm not insulted. The best thing about Canada is that we are only patriotic when it comes to talking about the people south of us. We're largely devoid of nationalism.... except of course when the americans start talking. Once that happens, we usually proclaim how happy we are to live in our socially advanced nation, while the americans do all the hard work and writhe in their backward nation. Of course, we're not patriotic. So we feel no insults. :D

It's just I realize there is no point. The argument is just to see who "wins", not to discuss thoughts or ideas. We could do this for 1000 more posts, and in the end think and feel exactly how we do now.

Actually, I did.  From the abrupt way you stopped, and coincidentally at about the same time, I just thought you might have too.  I was kinda trying to imply that with the winky face. 

I was in it to try to determine as best we could a point of fact.  And for instance we appear to have settled that he was never asked in that thread to name a positive thing the troops did -- or at least you dropped that claim while responding to other parts of the same post.

You're claim is that it's impossible for me to read that post, and conclude Akuma does not like the troops. I disagree.

If I was walking down the street with someone, and said "that woman is attractive", and his response was "Her nose is to big, skin sucks, is too short, and her ass is to flat.", I would conclude that he does not find her attractive.

Did I ask him directly? No. Did he say he doesn't find her attractive? No. Could there be 100 things he did like about her but didn't say? Sure.

I still know from that conversation, he didn't find her attractive. Akuma is not a fan of the troops. I know this. You can dissect his words all you want, it still does not change that fact. To do so would be pointless.

 

And for what it's worth, I didn't report you. Not my style.

I didn't think you had, but thanks. I feel the same way.

If, in your analogy, he says, "she's as pretty as anyone else, but her dress makes her look fat", that would be closer IMO to him saying that the troops are people just like anyone else in a very stressful situation that results in things like that incident and high rates of rape.

In any case, I haven't said it's IMPOSSIBLE for you to interpret his words that way, or if I did (and you'd have to point out where) then I didn't intend to. I intended to say that it's not "a fact" based on that thread that he dislikes the troops and it's not at all clearly the most reasonable interpretation.

I also said that it's a fact that (contrary to what you claimed as evidence) he was never asked to say something positive about the troops and couldn't do so.

Being Canadian, from Quebec... I wasn't *personally* insulted but I found it to be of very bad taste... Especially that many people in military died recently. Not funny at all.

yes it was of bad taste, especially when the average person really knows nothing on just how hard the US,UK and Canada work together on project of great importance. but i do wish they would shoot that stealth plane down though.
