Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

the best console i have owned, so many uses beyond just playing games. With the library now getting to a good level in size and quality my joy can only increase.
assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

Welcome newbie,
"*I VOW NEVER TO BUY A SONY PRODUCT AGAIN*"
LOL, did your PS3 blow up in your face or something?
I don't care about the console race (apart from whether it effects what games come to the platform), so yes I am very happy.
My PS3 can play GT5 (when released), FF13 (when released), GoW3 (when released), Fifa, Call of Duty, I am content. Every other game after that is a bonus.
Free online is neat aswell.
| MikeB said: @ Sardauk 720p native (WTF ??? This is 2009 now can we have 1080p like on the 360 ??) There are more native 1080p PS3 games than native 1080p 360 games. Most games are 360 to PS3 ports (which usually could make much better use of the SPEs), so that's not really a surprise. subpar online integration ... urgh...not to mention people without mic, that poor psn store and that silly HOME... Microphones work fine on the PS3, luckily most mic users on the PSN seem more mature compared to on XBL. Home is IMO a pretty slick free offering, played a game of chess yesterday with a stranger, also practiced the little helicopter game, unlocked some arcade goodies, needless to say I had fun doing that and the potential is huge: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/01/09/ces-2009-inside-eas-upcoming-home-sports-complex/ the dualshock is a bit too little and uncomfortable For you maybe, not for me with my large hands and people within my family and amongst my friends (the Playstation style controller remains the most used game console controller worldwide by far). There are plenty of games which would be unsuitable (or providing a subpar experience) for the XBox controller, for instance Sixaxis controlled games like Super Ruba Dub and Flower or games like Super Stardust HD, Ape Escape or Blast Factor which would be weird and hard to play with the assymetric analog stick configuration or for replaying Snes, Amiga, Sega MegaDrive, etc classics for example under Linux, the 360 dpad is not good for that at all. |
Hey man, the OP asked if I was happy with my PS3 and I answered.
The rest belongs to you and I don't agree with it.
Simple
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
@ Sardauk
I respect that that is probably your opinion, I was just interested in the why. We will probably see more 1080p native content once 1080p is the industry standard and PS3 game engines become well optimised.
IMO so far various 720p native games look near equally good upscaled when compared to various native 1080p games. 1080p demands more from the console than 720p does (in terms of framerate as well as in terms of assets, without which 1080p rendering would be pretty much overkill), so more can be achieved in 720p at this point for various types of games.
