Forums - Gaming - Retro-Gaming; anyone?

I was just wondering, given the average age of posters here, if anyone is heavy into retro gaming. By that I mean anything not from the last two generations.  I've seen a couple threads on this subject, but they all just seemed to be focused on bragging what games they had and posting a slew of pictures.

I'm not really into the pictures thing, I have enough of those in my sig. I was just genuinely interested if others shared my passion. You don't even have to own or collect, you could just be into emulation and playing them regularly.

If you are into retro-gaming please share what's currently in your system/emulation software que.

Me:

Mother (Earthbound 0) NES: I'm not into emulation but there are a few games you can't even get a hold of in the United States and this is one of them. I got it from a friend and play it on my CPU through an emulator. It's also the only emulated game I have.

Right know I'm playing Fire Emblem 4 for the SNES, definatly a tough game. Thank god for save states. lol

I still play a lot of Sonic 3 & Knuckles on my Genny of course.

A NES game is usally in my rotation, Just got through a season of Tecmo Superbowl. I like playing a new team every week in that game. I wish you could trade players but you can only do the one season. I often play N64 games too... if that counts as last two generations or not i don't know.

When I move nearly every videogame system from the NES up will be hooked up or be accessable via backwords capability. Along with those will be an Atari and a Bally Astrocade, they'll probably all get use.

Playing Ninja Gaiden Trilogy Snes
Metroid and Punch out on VC

I do not know if I am a retro gamer, but I can recognize all the value the old games have. Sometimes I find a Snes game more charming (graphics included) than anything out on this generation. Look at Tales of Phantasia, it pushed Snes past the limit. I find it really exciting when I hear voices on a Nes game (bad Dudes) or find out that there were 100+ hour games back them. It feels like you could make a best seller today even with Snes hardware.

A few days ago a friend and I spent hours playing Space Armada for the Intellivision. We were up till 2 in the morning trying to beat the sixth level. We got to one dude left. ONE DUDE! argh the frustration... I'm going to go play it again.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

yup i'm a retro gamer for sure, i spent tons of money collecting retro games from the NES and beyond. Right now i'm playing Crystalis on NES and Shinobi 3 on genesis. I've really been getting into the genesis lately because I never owned one when I was a kid, I was too poor to have 2 consoles then. NES was so long ago that most of the games are still fresh even though i played them as a kid. So many i skipped over.

the one system i don't play much is the SNES because i nearly played every game on it when i was younger.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

If the Sega Saturn is concidered retro, then yes.

Play Sega Saturn!!!

My History

I'm big into retro gaming. I still play my 16bit and 8bit games quite a bit. Recently i been hitting a game of Master of Monsters (a just total kick ass turn-based strategy game for the genesis). I'm also going to hit up some tecmo super bowl and super punch out soon as well.

Anything before PS2 counts as Retro IMO.

Besides, Earthbound 0 (which was a recent aquisition) I also recently played Maniac Mansion, Shadowgate for NES, and Final Fantasy 3 SNES.

I also like to bust out my SNES mouse and Play Civilization 1 ocasionally.

I also have an Atari and like to play a game of River Raid or Pitfall every now and then.

On N64 I play Perfect Dark and Mario Kart.
