Finally, Universal Remotes Work On A PS3

As Sony no doubt intended, my PS3 is the heart of my living room. I watch DVDs on it, Blu-Rays on it, stream movies from my PC on it. But I do so under duress.

Why? Not because of the machine itself. It's a magnificent media player. But because, thanks to the machines exclusive use of bluetooth, it has never worked with universal remotes. Yes, I am that lazy that this is a pressing issue.

But rejoice! For Logitech are releasing an adapter that will allow any of the company's Harmony line of universal remotes to work with the PlayStation 3. Best part (especially for those with newer-model units)? It won't take up one of your precious USB ports.

No details on price or availability yet, but they are coming.

Fucking finally. This is PS3 news of the year as far as I'm concerned.

And I do have the Nyko dongle that goes into the USB port and it's ass.  The buttons don't always work, when you press a direction many of the times it will press that direction twice, and you can't turn your PS3 on and off with it (well, you can turn it off only by going through the XMB but you can't turn it on with it).

I'm sure they do but there are currently no universal remotes out that I know of (though last time I looked was November-ish) that support BlueTooth, the Logitech one seems to be the first of its kind.

And the Logitech Universal Remotes aren't bad at all, they just come with some of the most painful software to use to set them up.

I hear the DS2 is wireless, and can turn the PS3 on and off.

Wonder if they will come out with a new remote that handles it without the adapter too? I'd buy that right up...

 I have the same problems with Nyko but it's better than having another remote just for the PS3... the lack of on / off button was probably the most annoying thing about it.   I was so happy when power off option was put in XMB.
