Forums - Sony - Lair Review: 8.5-"Great Sixaxis controls and precision aiming"

I've got Lair and I actually kinda like it. It's not a super-duper-OMG awesomefest but it isn't a suckfest either. it's a decent game with a bit of a *minor* hang-up. Yes, it's a minor hang up and the controls aren't as difficult as people claim them to be. I've noticed that some of the people who actually like the control scheme (such as myself) have also spent time with the PSN game "flOw". Makes sense considering that Flow is also a game that is purely six-axis controlled.

This is just my opinion of the game and I know I can't speak for everyone when i say that I think it's a pretty good game. VA could be better but thats a minor complaint on my part. Agree with me or not but just realize that I'm exceptionally hard on games. Despite my love for Oblivion I still think its got its shares of massive flaws and I also think that Halo is the most over-rated and over-hyped game in existence. Sorry, but I just don't see giving a game that acts like it's the gaming messiah (when in reality its just a polished FPS) much in terms of props.

My final word on Lair? Rent it. It's a game that has gained the term "aquired taste" when referring to people who might like it. I'm giving it an 8 (if I was rating it) and thats just because of three minor complaints : Camera can get wonky, VA is kinda odd and silly, and some missions are so precise in their timing that it might make you bleed from your hands.

Take what you want from this lil' rant. I still think the game deserves it's shot with the consumer instead of at the mercy of biased reviewers (Not just IGN but also Play magazine and their extremely lenient review)

This game is like ExciteTruck all over again, some get it, some don't.

I don't know -- most reviewers and players alike loved Excite Truck.  Of course, the control is solid and the game is just a lot of damn fun ;)

Here's my co-writer's take on the game:

My review will be up later today or tomorrow and frankly, it's not going to be as nice as his (though I agree with his score of 6/10).

Instead of reviewing the game, I decided that I would take this time to get a few things off my chest about Lair:

Ahhhh.... I needed that. Once I got rolling about the game, I couldn't stop myself.

You will find different opinions of lair owners others say it is not working good, others says you have to get used to it.

Um... Nintendo Wii, anyone?
