- The Elder's Scroll IV: Oblivion;
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (if anyone can consider that a masterpiece).

Other than that, it seems like people hate gaming in general? o_O

Yeah, Metroid Prime 3 also wasn't near as good as the first two.

some of the responses seem almost sarcastic or meant to be funny.  While we are at it, add: All mario games except for #2 and sunshine. all Zelda games except for #2 on NES.  All Metroid games except the GBA one.  Starcraft.  Warcraft 3.  DOOM.  Final Fantasy, except for X-2.  Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.  Sonic games 1, 2 and 3 on the Genesis.  Phantasy Star games.  Diablo II.

 That honestly might be true. I am a surly bastard. One day I will learn to not try games based on hype and I will no longer be disapointed. Sadly I am still too foolish to know whats best for me.

 It was the pacing of the story that really got me I think. You spent so much time having nothing significant happen that I eventually stopped caring. Why bother trying to save the world today when it can just as easily be done tomorrow?

Well, Gnizmo, I mean, it's understandable, it just shocks me because I don't think of Half-Life 2 being a narrative as such. It's almost like seeing a weakness in Tetris for its lack of other shapes. If someone said that to me, I would go "Well, uh, I guess it does have just one shape, at that," but it had never occurred to me up to that point that different shapes could even exist.

Your Tetris shapes similitude puzzled me much more than reconstructing HL2's plot from the pieces of conversation you hear, the paper scraps and the graffiti you find around :)
