Well Home is printing money for Sony, so who cares?

What annoys me is that the games don't use the analogue sticks.

Analogue sticks would be good for bowling. Analogue sticks would be good for pool.

But no, clicking X a few times is much more fun.

dont understand half of this... does anyone buy a ps3 for home? isnt the home icon quiet until you press it? if you dont like it dont use it... all this sony hate makes you bring bs all over the place!

Are you sure about that? They might be more than covering their running costs selling items, but how long do you think it'll take to cover the (continuing) development costs?

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

SONY should just srap the idea sounds good to me. they should spend the money and resources there using to Fix/improve it when really its not useful for anything and isnt going to do anything for the console.

i really dont like when you start bashing the ps3, but when is about HOME, that atrocity, that absurd and meaningless abortion, i completely agree with you, n fact i think you are too kind with home. Sony should cut down home and get that money to lower the price of the ps3 even if is only US$1 per ps3.

OH and to those saying is a beta SONY SAID IT WILL BE A BETA FOREVER, so thats the final product, yes that crap

IT WILL BE BETA FOREVER

The PlayStation 3's free "3D social gaming community" service PlayStation Home will retain its "open beta" label for quite a while, according to Home director Jack Buser.

"We quite like the name 'open beta,' so you can expect us to stay in open beta for some time," the Sony employee said in a Kotaku video podcast. "Whether we ever exit out of that into some other phase of our existence, that's [to be determined]."

Buser explained that "open beta" is "sort of synonymous with our idea of launch, in that we really want to emphasize that what you see in Home on any particular day is subject to change. Home is a living, breathing, evolving, growing platform."

"You're gonna see this world rapidly scale with new stuff to do, new spaces, new virtual items, new content, all the time and it's just going to grow rapidly," he vowed.

The director was also extremely optimistic about the service's reception. "We're all so happy," he said. "I think it's even superseded everyone's expectations. People are not only coming in and using the service, but they're coming back."

Personally, I never bash free stuffs. It's not like they pulled God of War III budget to make HOME, we're still seeing lots of good games from Sony First Party. I also haven't tried it yet, but, like I said, I don't bash free stuffs. If it lets some people meet online and chat about games, then it's fine, not everyone will find it useful, but as long as it pleases some, it's ok. Whatever new stuffs come out, there'll always be 1/3 satisfied, 1/3 bitching and 1/3 who don't give a crap.
