It went downhill when Obamanism rolled around.

This has nothing to do with where the US "went."  Recessions are standard.

The US went nowhere. It's still extremely conservative, religious, rich, with a huge military and bad education. Maybe we should be hoping it changes.

Yeah, people forget the part where Jesus himself said that rich people can not get into heaven.  And somehow early Americans created a "Protestant work ethic."  I never understood the relation between the two.  Rich people can't get into heaven, but if you get rich, you can use the concept of predestination to determine that you got rich because G-d loves you and wanted you to be rich before he lets you into heaven.  I love how capitalism can slowly twist all religions into "work hard, make money, hate communism, then die."

He said it was hard, not impossible!  Sure, he said a camel would have an easier time squeezing through the eye of a needle, but he was being hyperbolic.

I guess I'm more of a literalist.  I always read that as a "when pigs fly" kind of thing.  Hahaha.

"So back to the point of this thread. Should it be ok for Washington to target small groups of people, and take money they have earned just because government feels they don't "deserve" it?"

To answer your question, imo, if such money is an extraordinary amount that is going to go to aid a very small number of people much to the detriment of the majority of the people in our society, then I believe they should.

You also believe the Illuminati caused the economic crisis.

Yeah, and you believe that being able to take what they donate in charity off of their taxes has nothing to do with the amount of money that the wealthy conservatives donate to charity.

No.  Actually I do think it matters.  Because if you can't take the money off you that means you have less of a net at the end of the year.

What i don't believe is that people give money becuse of the tax breaks.  Which is logical.  What do i gain by giving 1,000 dollars to say 350 dollars in taxes?

In general people doante what they are comfortable with... or some people... what they are sligtly uncomfortable with.

This is a reasonable position.  the Illuiminati... not so much.

As William Cooper would say, whenever you have people in a scoiety that have fundamentally more than other people in that society you have a power elite which has a vested interest in protecting its own interests which is why you largely hear the people over $250,000.00 in this society saying, "Oh, Obama is going to raise taxes on us to help out those peons we call our workers (slaves) boo hoo hoo.  Trying to elevate the poor people in our society so that they can drive cars just as good as our CTS or go on European vacations instead of working hard all day at backbreaking labor forcing them to do we want them to is Communistic and Socialistic."

That power elite can be called an Illuminati even if it has nothing to do with Adam Weishaupt's Illuminati.

Democrats make on average make more money then Republicans.

The "us vs them" rich vs poor arguement of Republicans vs Democrats is nothing but an excuse for people to feel put opon and blame others rather then take stock of their own lives.

Bill Gates for example... is a democrat, so is Warren Buffet, just about everyone in Holywood... rich people in general are democrats.

So, Democrats make on average more money than Republicans.  I would think that would be true because Democrats are smarter than most Republicans.  And that is why you find Democrats most often occupying most of the jobs in sciences and the arts which should be professions that earn the most money.

It is also true that poor people tend to do better in our society under Democratic leadership rather than Republican leadership in spite of the fact that Republicans donate the most money to charity.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

on second thought, I'm reading the little dialogue bubble and thanos is definitely saying "GIVE ME TOAST, YOU BRAT" right before he moves in on the boy

I zoomed in and it's "Give me THAT, you Brat."  I'm not even sure it's a toaster.  I've been wondering about this for a long time too.  I zoomed in a couple weeks ago to read the quote, but I forgot to ask him what the hell was going on.

It's right there between Canada and Mexico.

Montana was totally onto something:

Well, he did mean something pretty close to that :)
